Well my name is Nick, I am 19 currently studying to be a diesel tech at Los Angeles Trade Tech College. Hope to pick up from the classifieds and I will be posting up new tools as they come in.

I'm not a professional mechanic but I suggest you get a couple of long screwdrivers, flat and phillips, 20 or more inches long. I don't think you will need them often but they are nice when you do need them.

Welcome to the site! I'm actually in school in the same program, but out here at Idaho State University. My folks live in LA, so spent plenty of time there. Luckily out here, we're learning all the new equipment/emissions stuff, but also learning a ton of old stuff. How is the program out there so far?

Oh man the program out here has been around for some years. We also have pleny of old stuff and some new stuff pertaining to the post 2007 emissions. How is the course brocken down out there? Ours is devided into 4 different semesters, 1-engine/electrical fundamentals 2-fuel systems 3-driveline, air brakes, transmission, and differentials 4-engine overhaul. Im in my second semester right now.

About the same here, in my second semester currently. Already been through Brakes, Hydraulics, Hydrostatic Drives, Electrical, Advanced Electrical, Fuel Systems, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration and currently in drive trains (transmissions & differentials).

I'm going the extended route and going the extra semester for Diesel Electric, want to try and get on with the railroad when it's all said and done with, but I'll go wherever the work takes me (and there's plenty of it).

We dont have an extended route, ours is just a 2 year program but its really good. After my 2 years im gonna take welding and american sign language (my neice is def).

There is work in this field everywhere, I wanna get into a local bus company over here in los angeles, stay there for a few years and I would wanna move to a dealership. But we shall see.
