Anyone replace sparkplugs on 2007 toyota camry v6 .Mine is coming up on 120k and plug change time.Do you have to remove the intake manifold to get at the back 3 plugs or can you just remove the cowl to gain access.

Removing a cowl to replace spark plugs on a fwd v6 is very common, especially on minivans. I've never removed an intake to do spark plugs.

I've done a bunch of these (2GR-FE) and you do have to remove the plenum to get to the rear 3 spark plugs. At least you only have to do it once every 120k miles or 12 years !!!

It's super easy I have the plenum itself off in 10 minutes .

Look on youtube I'll bet there's a how to .

worst part is removing the support bracket bolt on the back of the intake manifold and 2nd is removing the egr from the manifold. once the intake is moved enough BE SURE TO PUT RAGS OR SOMETHING IN THE INTAKE PORTS leading to the engine as you DON'T want anything falling in there.
Good Luck and just take your time.

you must remove the upper intake manifold on most imported v6 engines to access the rear spark plugs.

Well ****, guess I did get lucky.:rocker: Now that I think about it, seems like everyone around here buys domestics with v6's and asian cars with 4 cylinders.

The only FWD CAR v6s that I can think of at the moment where you DONT need to remove the plenum is ford 3.0s and the hondas.

As far as I remember almost every other one of them the plenum is almost touching the boot or COP. Just take a quick peek with a flashlight.

FYI I almost never remove half the stuff attached to the plenum. Leave as much as the harness plugged in as I can. Just hold the plenum in the air slightly with a tie down or bungee cord and reach under it to do your business.

Honestly its an easy job that takes less than hour if you have tools and know how to use them.

Dont be cheap, plan on replacing the gaskets

I love doing plugs when you have to remove the plenum. So easy to beat book time. Like srmofo said, leave as much connected as possible. I disconnect stuff from the end opposite the throttle body, along with support brackets and egr if necessary. Remove the plenum bolts, then pull the non-TB side up with a bungee chord to the hood or wherever. Since the plenum pivots at the throttle body, you can usually leave the harness plugs and the vacuum/coolant lines connected without fear of breaking anything. After the plugs are changed, the plenum is still held up to clean the surfaces and change the gasket(s).

The 3.4 GM frontwheel drive engine does not need the plenum pulled either.

forgot about those. its been so long since I have done plugs without doing lower gaskets. I guesss you can add the 3.1 and 3.8 to the list, but seeing how the plenum doesnt even go over the plugs Id say those are a given
