Oil burner & Tank installation

Finally getting heat out there. I didn't want to pay to run the gas line when I had a 4' trench going out there, and now with the driveway and landscaping it's too late. So oil turned out to be the least bad solution and by way of paying the price for my lack of planning I've got a 24x45x60 inch oil tank using up prime workspace. Well it will be nice to have heat this winter despite the price of fuel oil.

That's a beautiful tank. Not like most of the older one's I see. Almost looks like a fridge. How many gallons does that tank hold?

275 is easy. I just got oil for my house. 754 gallons in a 1000 gallon tank to fill it. 3.26 a gallon....do the math. Glad I only do that once a year

An average of $200/month in heating bills alone???

Ouch. But I just shopped around for oil today, called four places, cheapest was $3.40 gallon, highest was $4.15! Gotta love NJ. Big problem now is getting it back to the shop: can't have a 38K lb. truck rolling over her nice brick driveway, but hoses are only 150' long. Gee I wish I'd run the gas lines when I had the chance.

My father's making & using Biodiesel in his vehicles & house oil burner with great success. 80 cents a gallon plus labor. Not a bad deal, but my opinion is in a few years used cooking oil won't be free. Once you convert cooking oil to bio, you can basically use it in anything that takes heating oil without modification to the equipment. Just a thought!
