Howdy everyone,
Been browsing this site for a while now. Awesome stuff, very inspirational. Well I finally had something I felt was worth posting so here it is.

Finally got tired of my tools sliding around everytime I open/close the drawers. Picked up some foam slab from Hankock Fabrics and traced all the tools that I wanted to keep put then used a razor blade to cut out the shapes. Worked out perfectly. Unfortunately I am out of black spray paint or they would be painted. I'll post pics when I get them sprayed. Let me know what ya'll think.

Looks clean. I need to do this so I quit leaving tools all over my garage.

Looks good, nice idea.
Whats it like trying to grab tools out though? The foam looks quite thick.
A coupe half circle finger sized cutouts on each side would help grabbing out the tools more easily.

I am a big fan of foamed drawers, the only problem is it does take up more room, but I love the visual organisation more than the space. If you want an extremely easy foam to work with made for tools, check out Fastcap Keizan foam.

its what I used to do this, it's layered for perfect depth, and cheap, I think I paid $13 for each 2'x4' sheet.

You might test paint some of the scraps, I have seen paint melt foam before, looks to good to screw it up now......

Grabbing tools isn't bad. Finger cut outs isn't a bad idea though I think i'll definetly try it out. Thanks for the idea.

I was planning on spraying a test piece first. That's usually a good rule of thumb on anything you do.

Thanks everyone for the good words.

That's exactly what I was looking for! I looked everywhere locally for this and couldn't find it. A friend of mine when I was still working at the GM dealership had his toolbox done this way and it's what gave me the idea. Thanks for the link, and great looking box. Clean tools are well kept tools I always say.
