I have the 205 piece set from a few years ago, and this set is the same, except that it adds 15 bits for the screw driver. I have found it to be a pretty encompassing basic kit and this is with the $99. Apply some discounts, like SAVEONTOOLS after you add a $1 item, and it could be even less.

This was in my local store, fyi. Not sure if this is available online. UPDATE!!! CURRENTLY ON SALE FOR $89.99 FOR THE VETERANS DAY SALE. SEE THE POST BELOW

Should also be able to stack two coupons:

SEARS2012 for $5 off $50
SAVEONTOOLS for $10 off $75

So final price shows as $74.99 before tax for me.

Make sure you mark the top of the box TOP. The top is the side where the wrenches are at. If you open it the other way, you will be playing 152 pickup. Trust me on this one.

This is solid, solid advice! And make sure the kit is laying flat on the ground before opening it, and the top half must also be flat before turning the lock to get out a wrench. You'll only make the mistake once, but it's a royal PITA. My brother and my landlord have both done it. (Then my landlord and I had a little chat about using my ****)

At the same time I agree with you, but I also somewhat like Craftsman loose storage slots. It is a royal PITA when you have a different kit that the sockets "click" in and and are hard to get out. I wish they made something strong enough to hold them when opening the case, but easy enough so you aren't breaking nails pulling them out.

It also makes it very difficult to fondle your tools in the wee hours without waking the wife.

oh, I like the case, I was just re-emphasizing his suggestion to make sure the case is flat or you'll end up with a puddle of sockets
