J-Boxes - Avoid at all costs or no biggie?

Situation... I discovered it was much easier & smarter to finish & sheetrock the wall prior to installing the LM3800's...no biggie on my front wall, all electrical was done, couple rolls of insulation and voila...done. But over on the rear side door, I'm not exactly ready...I was hoping to run the power for those exterior lights off a new (yet to be installed) sub panel in the rear of the shop to save on wiring.
SOOO. I was thinkin...what if I wire up those lights as I normally would, but start the feed up in the attic area in a junction box? Once I get my new 2nd sub panel installed, I just string a line to the J-box and i'm done?

Question is...should I avoid Junction boxes whenever possible or is it really nothing to worry about?

Plan B would mean hooking up those 2 lights up into a string of recepticles I plan on putting close by...actually 12" away close by.. I was just trying to avoid that on the grounds of keeping things segemented nicely and I didnt want to use 12-2 in the lighting fixtures.

You could always run the lighting ciruit to the future subpanel location and terminate it at the panel later. I would avoid the splices. You could even just coil the wire run in the attic somewhere but make sure it is long enough to eventually land on the panel.

I did think of that...I know where I would "Like" the panel to be, but that wall isnt even built yet and who knows if that future panel will even end up where I would like it...I'm just thinking I've already had to "move" my original panel from where I had planned on putting it in originally. If it wouldnt involve 50' of wire just to get to the switch, I'd just slap it into my existing panel.

This. I have 3 or so. The two gray ones in this picture are where lighting, power and switching come together. Many ways to skin that cat.

Run the j-box....you never know, you might need it for something else in the future.....

If your J box will be buried in attic insulation or you have to trample the insulation to reach the box in the attic, you might want to mount it in the cieling and close it with a solid cover plate. Then you can reach the splices from inside the garage by simple removing the cover plate.
