13mm gearwrench. Taking out drain plug at work, heard "kink" and thought it broke loose. Nope the damn wrench split.off to get a replacement tomorrow.

First gearwrench I've broken ever.

Mine are going on 5+ years beside the 8mm and the 14mm i just warranty exchanged em at sears about a month ago.

It a clean break all the way across the ratching part.

My dad broke a 9/16" when they first came out. They sent a new one and and him nor I have broken any others.

Never had that happen but I was greatly suprised with the set of gearwrench branded ones at work, they were fine when they worked but were hit and miss and would get to a point where they would just freewheel, they were the ones with the reversable lever.

Once or twice on my 7/16 I broke the entire ratchet section like that. The rest of the time it just locked up.
Going on 6 warranty replacements in 6 years now. But it's been abused.

When I've had one fail, the ratcheting end just locked up.

I don't think they're intended to break loose really stuck fasteners, any more than a fine-tool 1/4-drive ratchet is.

Quite common with GearWrench, I did a search a while back and couldn't believe how many people had problems with the ratcheting GearWrench wrenches breaking. But as said above and I believe on the package they are not designed to loosen tight bolts/nuts.

Yes. 1,000 times yes.

Snappy doesn't sell rebranded Gearwrenches. They make their own ratcheting wrenches.

I assume you've used Em? Would have bought sometoday but my snappy dealer never came over to my area of the shop(im the only one in front shop that likes him) and couldn't get off a vehicle long enough to go to his truck.

I own a set of them, very pricey but worth it IMO. They are reversible and have the flank drive plus on the open end. I like how they are not flat like gearwrenches, but are offset like a regular combination wrench.

Says on the package:This is a precision tool. Not meant to break loose nuts and bolts. Or something like that. I broke a 18mm doing what it was not intended to do. It would hang up then break free when ratcheting. My Snap On guy warrantied it for me and I did not buy it from him. The place I bought it from(sears) said Ihave to send it to Gearwrench.

Snappy to the rescue! Call your dealers cell and have him drop off a set, plus something free thrown in!

Trust me he was more than happy to do it. I added up my all my purchases and was a little sick. Even more so since I am not working in a shop anymore. Who cares I got the best tools in the neighborhood. I have even made purchases from him since Isold my shop. He is by far the best tool guy I have ever had.

gearwrench reversible aren't flat nor have they ever been..15 degree offset.

the snap-on ones ****, they feel rougher and on the reversibles the levers like to jam or break off. The snap-on ratcheting box ends are also some of the fatest and thickest you'll find which limits their usefulness. Anyone who thinks they're superior to gearwrench hasn't used a decent (Taiwan) set of gearwrench. All you're doing is paying a crapton more for an inferior product. I've used them all, gearwrench is extremely robust and an incredible value compared to the $400+ the koolaid man wants.
