Me too on a 25 + year old Craftsman corded drill. Love my Craftsman Lithium Compact drill and use most of the time, and often, but pull out the corded one on rare occations when the cordless just can't cut it.

but how long does a professional power tool last in a DIY environment.... ? 30 years ?

So in 30 years you buy 1 Fein drill..... and 6 to 10 smart phones, 3 washing machines, 3 to 6 cars, 1 house and 5 laptops + other stuff..... So i think it is reasonable to buy 1 Fein drill in your lifetime

For pure torque/ power nothing I have seen will match my 14 yr old 1/2" Milwaukee 120 v corded drill.

For once in a while diy use, any of the drills brands the op asked about will do fine. I would also add Hitachi to the list

Rotary hammer with keyless chuck is no good for any application in which you need some precision. Having a dedicated drill for precision stuff is a must.

If you choose a SDS drill with exchangeable chuck i would look at a Metabo UHE 2650 it´s the only SDS-Plus drill (afaik) with 2-speeds and exchangeable chuck.
So this one would be the most universal drill on the market today (if you need the chisel funktion)

So if you look for the "EierlegendeWollMilchSau" as we say over here ("Egg laying-Wool-Milk-Pig") than it would be this Metabo.

Just got a drill like this, secondhand. It's a uhe 26 multi, difficult to find stuff (manual,...)about on the internet. Weird since it's only a 2009 model. I am missing the SDS chuck however. Retails for around €60 it seems, just for the chuck!!
