All:

I have several small old tool boxes, including a Proto that I am considering restoring. Unlike my Plomb and Snap-on (where the logo is stamped into the box itself), the Proto logo is painted on. Any ideas on how or who would be able to recreate the Proto logo for me?

Sorry if this topic has come up before and I didn't find it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I've seen a similar idea done with making reproduction waterslide decals for vintage radios. I've never made one, but that's probably a good start. These guys basically just had the logo printed with colorfast ink on the waterslide decal material (so it wont run) and then once it was on (and dry) they cleared or lacquered over it.

Most of the guys were using high resolution scans or photographs and then touching them up in photoshop before printing it.

I have done this for other members of GJ. I'll send you a PM with examples.

For the guys that do this kind of thing, can you post or PM me with details on the reproduction decals? I have a Plumb box that I'd like a decal for. It also looks like it had a label on the inside lid that had unit conversions OR a tap & die reference ("x" drill bit for "y" size tap). It's so far gone I can't tell what that was. Maybe someone here knows...

Thanks in advance!
