Nice looking building. I like the frame work. With the metal supports on the cement floor, do you worry about rust even though they are painted?

I questioned the builder and my cement contractor(my cousin) and they both insisted it would be a non issue. Unless i'm spraying it with salt water it should out last me.

very nice... you'll like that car port. Even though I have several nice shops, I enjoy working on things in our home breezeway in the spring and fall.

My dad has had his building for 20yrs w/o the carport and everytime he is in it he wishes he'd had put the carport. All the work is done at the door for more light and a breeze. Where he placed his shop he can't add a carport now.

Really nice shop, neighbor! I'll have to bring over some frosty ones when I'm in the area!

I spend a lot of time and $ at Pousson Tools when I'm that way, and then L'auberge gets the rest of my $$$... :dunno:

Friend request your way, Boss!

Looks like a great shop back in the trees and also like the carport.

Curious about plans for more bucks like electrical and heating/AC? You going buried electrical or aerial?

Also curious why such big gaps in roof and sidewalls without any studs (ie why no metal or wood studs to give more locations to screw on corrugated roof and wall tin)?

Keep us posted . . . like the sturdy steel construction and drive-thru design from front to back..

That's all it needs for structural support. I'm not going to close in the walls no A/C. No need for heat down here. THe most I may do is a spray insulate the roof. Other than than it's a finished project. I have a couple of big fans to get abreeze going. I already buried the line just waiting on final inspection from parish.(county) to get power turned on.

All right it's been a little while since I updated. Had a some issues on the home front. Good news i passed my final inspection last week and the electricity should be hooked up any day now. I was able to pick up a couple of items to start some projects.

I like this. I like it a bunch.

Plan on doing a wood post steel building in a month or two with the same porch idea. It'll be 3,600 sq ft under roof, 40x90. 40x80 enclosed.

I also plan on using canister O/H doors like you used. Are yours individual slats, or a coiled sheet? I have the slat type on an existing building and really like them, but they are expensive (but anything quality today costs). I'm looking at two 10x10 and one 8x10. Do ya' like your doors and what size are they? Look like maybe 12x12.

Just curious, how much per cubic yard did you pay for concrete in Lake Charles?

My front door is 12x12 and the back door is 10x 10. They are the coiled sheet which isn't as high of a wind rating and the price was lower. I got a "family" deal and gave $1550 for both when other places quoted me 1550 to 1875 for the 12" and 1350 to 1550 for the 10". They are overhead door brand.

Thanks for the info, especially the pricing.

My current building doors are OverHead Door brand and I like them.

I'll do some price comparisons between the two types.

I might have to go with 12' width.

I did my cement last November I gave $88 a yard for 4000psi I had around 40 yards poured

Fair price. That's about the going rate in the Slidell / Covington area. Prices will increase around $5-$6 effective now due to an increase in cement price.

Nice! What company did the roof trusses come from?

I like steel down here, dont have to worry about termites and rot.
