I couldn't pass on them, and I have WAY too many ratchets. I don't even have room for them. Time for another box I guess. I was going to buy the 1/2", but I have a Snap On SL80A

I bought all 3 from the same vendor last week, they were a little cheaper then though. I should have mine wednesday to give some details.

yeah, they were about $10 cheaper when I posted it in the Gearwrench 120XP ratchet thread. still a good deal IMHO. They are definitely made in Taiwan. I've used them several times already and love them! the 3pc set comes in a nice foam tray you can use to store them in your toolbox.

Wow. Their prices on the HW jacks are great. They have the 3 ton for less money than Zoro lists the 2 ton for, and the 2 ton is about what I paid from Zoro during the 40% off sale.

I bet shipping would hurt, though.

Never heard of these guys before.

I ordered from them and got my stuff promptly. when i called to talk to them, they were very courteous and professional. so far, i'm comfortable with them.

Thanks for the posting bimmer. The shipping is reasonable, $10 for both ratchets isn't bad. Only $51 shipped for the 3/8" and 1/4".

I may buy the 1/2" after all when I get them in my hands, I just know it.

i bought the 3pc set and love them all. but if you didn't already get it, i might wait to see if they come out with a long handle version for the 1/2". I always feel 1/2" ratchets are too short when they are not long...

That's a good point. That is what I like about the SL80A, it's long.

I can not seem to justify to purchase any straight-handle ratchets...
Gotta be either a flex head or roto style.
3 degree swing would be much more valuable on a long handled flex head ratchet.

Has anyone come across the rebuild kits for these yet? I really want to swap the pawl into my Craftsman 60tooth thin profile and see how it works out.

Nvm just found them.

Will it fit the thin profile ratchets?

Yikes not to derail this thread.

That is an unknown, The 120xp ratchet is based off the same 60 tooth gear that the thin profile and older gearwrenchs. You would have to retain the old gear in the Thin Pro due to the quick release but I feel pretty confident it will work based on the pictures I have seen. I am ordering the kit and can let you know in a few weeks.

i haven't checked, but i do have both ratchets. however, i can tell you that the 120XP ratchets are a little thicker than the thin profiles. i suspect they use a "thicker" version of the 60 teeth gear, and the combined thickness of the two pawls is a little thicker than the single pawl setup.

Could I bribe you to try and swap it? It would make your a pioneer :lol_hitti I was just wondering about the thickness. The Cman TP 1/2" already has the double spring for the selector while the 3/8" and the 1/4" uses a single spring so the selector would have to be swapped as well.

With that being said the thickness could be an issue for the 3/8" and 1/4" due to misaligned holes on the selector. The 1/2" should work even if I have to shave the pawls down a hair.

I am sure you are correct about the thicker gear, that seems like the simplest way to boost the strength back up since you have less pawl contact.

With the price of the ratchets being this low is the swap worth it? The repair kit for the 1/4" is $11.50 plus shipping and the ratchet shipped is $14.46 plus shipping.

Yeah but then I would have to spend all that time reshaping the handle to perfectly fit my hand and then pay to have it chrome plated.

Clearly swapping the internals into the thin profile is the better option

So can you swap the guts with the 88t found and make this a 176 count. ?

Not sure how you came up with that number but I am thinking probably not, the pawl and gear teeth would have different angles and would be prone to slipping if it even worked at all.

[. Are you sure thes are the 120xp's??

QUOTE=carguy07;2733128]Amazon has the set for $63.99 + $10.90 shipping.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NI93JS/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The vendor has them direct too, if Amazon screws with the price.

[/QUOTE]

Now I'm not sure?? The part # matches the one in the original post's link that says they are, but on the Gearwrench site, it looks like 60 tooth.

http://www.gearwrench.com/catalog/specialty_tools/ratcheting_tap_and_die/setdetails.jsp?part=81206

Pulling my post, since I'm not sure and it's 6:30 am and have to head out the door.

yeah.. i've found that it's been listed under two part numbers, 81206P *OR* 81206XP.

Here's the correct one on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009PJPL6A/?tag=atomicindus08-20

The tool discounter is still a better deal. now i'm glad I ordered it when it was $63.

FYI, 81206F is the 84t versions. So, make sure there's a "P" or "XP" for 120XP stuff, and "F" for the 84T at the end of the number. Otherwise, it's the older 60t stuff.

Got mine today and I love them. Very smooth with great build quality. If you listen you can hear the sound of the pawls alternately engaging and disengaging. Kind of like a tick tock sound. The bevel on the head is a nice touch also. Big ups to Tooldiscounter.com for coming through with GREAT service and fast shipping!! Give them some business.

congrats! I've had them for a couple of weeks now and love them too! used them the last two weekends. it's amazing the quality of ratchet you get for a mere $75 for the 3pc set. now only to wait for them to use the same gears in the long handles, flex heads, and other ratchets...

BTW, do you know where your ratchets shipped from? Geographically that is... I think Gearwrench is drop shipping them and mine appear to have shipped from socal (I'm guessing some warehouse near a port like long beach).
