Bendpak RJ45 fitment on HD9

Hi All,

Did anyone else have to adjust the width between the runways on their HD9 lift in order for the rollers on the RJ45 to fit on the channels? I have my HD9 set to the narrowest width and one side of the RJ45 was riding up on the channel.

The RJ45 had no further adjustment to bring the roller arms in. I called Bendpak and they said to remove the existing runway bolts and use thinner bolts so that the runway can be shifted over slightly. This did the trick, but just curious who else had to do this.

I had to do it as well.

There was a modification to the lifts that reduced the width between the runways. A slightly different RJ45 jacking beam width was required and sometime the two didn't fit with each other. The thinner HT bolts also fixed the problem for me.

I also bought the airline kit to supply my jacking beam only to find the lift was missing all the holes to allow fitment through the sides of the runway.

Which reminds me that I was chasing a credit on it to get the wheel kit instead!

This issue has me a little spooked. Am I understanding that the RJ-45 jack is dicating the spacing between the runways on the HD-9? I just ordered both, and planned to use the outer settings to accomodate my 1Ton Dually.

The jacks expand for wider runway spacing. See the picture above showing the jack- next to the red circle is the adjustable lock bolt you loosen for the adjustment of the jacks rollers to fit the runway spacing of your lift.

Was the RJ45 purchased later than the HD-9? There have been multiple revisions to both runways and the rj45's over the years and there have been instances of slight adjustments needed to accommodate a pair of different revisions.

I assume you have an xw since you mention the narrow setting, no issue running a thinner bolt as there is no load on the ramp position bolts.

I have the same problem with mine, and then the one they replaced it with a year later. There is shotty workmanship on the fabrication, that, on mine, if it had been done correctly, would fit perdectly. I just live with it not sliding well.

My HD9 was purchased in early 2010 and the RJ45 was purchased last week. If you use the runways at the widest setting, i don't believe you will encounter this isssue. I may have to go with that option because the jack does not slide very smoothly when it is wedged to tightly between the runways.

I agree that the workmanship is shotty. The measurements are slightly off which creates this issue. The runway holes should have been drilled another 1/2" to the right. I have a utility trailer on the lift right now, and it actually scares me to try to roll the jack because the drag it creates on the runway sways the whole lift!

I was thinking about drilling additional holes 2" over to the end, but don't know if this will affect the integrity of the lift. Again, I may just have to chalk it up and move the runway to the outermost setting. The only problem with this is I have a sliding jack stand MADE for the narrow setting. This would become useless.

That what I thought..........unfortunately it didn't work out quite that way, but the new, thinner HT bolts fixed the problem.

Mine slides so easily, that I got my finger slammed between the cross beam and the lift. I keep the tracks clean of grime, and never have had a problem. I got my jack about a year after buying the lift.
