If I had my CNC lathe maybe. Don't have the time on the manual lathe...for a gift I'm looking for a CNC machined coffee cup, or that's been fabbed out of aluminum diamond plate, or welded stainless...something that's shop made but food grade as to avoid death by poisoning. Something us men would drink from. Anybody seen something like this?

I'd be afraid that everybody who saw me drink out of that would think I was over-compensating for a short d*ck

Clamp an Eotech night vision on one side and a green laser on the other...

Not sure I would care what other folks are thinking about my junk...

One serious cup of $1000.00 coffee!!!

I could see it being a cool project to machine a cup/mug from a hunk of aluminum round bar, but it would be a massive heat sink, drawing heat from hot beverages and rapidly warming cold ones.

Very Good Point...you'd have to pre-heat it in the oven for Coffee...and keep it in the freezer for adult beverages...

Didn't think about that. Aluminum is out. That means that if I want to make one, it'll have to be stainless which will take longer...

Years ago, someone gave my Dad an all metal mug, it had a cummins or cat engine embossed on the side, thought it was a pretty nice mug until he filled it with coffee... So it was so !*$@ hot on his lips he though he burned them pretty bad, then he wondered if the rep that gave him the mug was been mean or nice. Might want to plan for a thermal break for the rim of that mug.

Then on the other side is if you freeze it and stick your lips on it, might be kind of hard to get them unstuck right away, ask anyone who lives where it freezes if it's a good idea to stick your tongue on cold metal..

It's not machined, but my favorite mugs are made by local ceramic artists. Good thermal properties, heavy enough to double as a wheel chock for a spare B-24 you might have laying around.

Double walled is the key here. You could turn a thin aluminum liner that sit nestled into a larger holder. As long as you have that 1/4" or so of empty air between the two, you'll be fine. I'd make it removable for easier cleaning.

If you can't pound nails with it when empty, then it's not a real mug, try again. :)

Unfavorable thermal dynamics was my first thought. Second would be the metal's reactivity with the beverages. Aluminum phosphate anyone?

I have a cast aluminum beer stein that I poured back in engineering school. Very cool to look at, but I would never drink from it. I use it to hold my pens and pencils on my desk.

Go to a craft store ,they have kits for mugs with a removable plastic liner.

You could fit the liner into just about anything with the right sized hole.

Using the liner bullnerd mentioned, you could make a mug out of black iron pipe and an end cap. Thing would be heavy and you could drive nails with it.
