I talked to a guy today and he has an older Cornwell bottom box, I have not got any product number yet, but he wants to downsize his box, his box with the 2 end cabinets is 8 feet long 22" deep around 43" tall. He's asking 2500 for the box or trade for a smaller box, I offered my krl761 and hutch for an even trade. His box was made in 97 but closed his shop in 98 and the box has been sitting since. My krl is about 5 years old I'm not familiar with Cornell so I'm looking for info and whether this maybe a good trade or not. Also who would have made thus box for cornwell as I read on here they don't make there own boxes.

They probably are similar value but I don't think the trade is an improvement for anything except drawer space.

In that vintage I think Kennady made boxes for Cornwell. I actually really like the new Cornwell boxes. They are really nice and well made even if they are made in Mexico. The latch system on the drawers are the best I have seen.

The thing with Cornwell boxes is the older style has drawer to drawer contact with no divider. I don't dig on that, it bugs me.

would need to see pics to compare the two before passing judgement.

i have an older cornwell box in my home garage. it is fifty some inches wide. i like the wide full length top drawer. just dont care for all the smaller drawers. yet that is a preference thing. My work box has full length drawers. so my ocd is at rest having all like stuff in same drawer :)

I saw that on Craigslist recently. I am not sure who made that style box. The Kennady made looked different. Kinda like what 86k10 described

I have one of those boxes.
It has held up "ok" in a shop setting, I have never liked it.
The drawers "wiggle" left to right alot when open. The drawer depth is to deep on the smaller drawers, for me anyway. The paint/coating chips way to easy.
I am saving up to get something different.
It doesn't compare to the newer cornwell boxes, not even close to any snap on I have had in the past.

I had one of those Cornwell units. It was pretty cool IMHO. 60" wide. But it was too tall for my plugs so I sold it off.

If it is in excellent shape, max value is about 1500 bucks. I would guess that dollar for dollar, it is probably a pretty even trade.

That being said, I think your Snap On box is a little better box overall.

I have an older cornwell box of that vintage and a newer one. IMHO there is a huge difference. Maybe the newer one is a higher tier in the box lineup, but the the drawers are sturdier, the latches are better, I believe its thicker steel (never measured but it sure feels like it), and the whole thing just feels more solid. Its not a bad box, but I dont think its an upgrade by any means unless you are in desperate need of more space and cash is tight. Ive never had trouble with chipped paint on either of them

I would go check it out before you commit to anything.

I picked up the older one with hutch and top locker for $750 several years ago to give you an idea on value. It was an ebay ad and I had no one bidding against me. It was completely covered it children stickers when I got it, so maybe that affected the value a bit. The guy had kids and the box was stored inside is home and apparently he didnt do a whole lot of parenting

Heres is the only pic I have of it from a couple of years ago. Its the center blue box. The newer one is the yellow one on the left. I dont really care for the color of either of them, but for the price I paid I dont care one bit. At least the blue hides the grim, where as the yellow shows every little smudge of grease

How do you like that newer Cornwell? I was looking at the 58 top or bottom or the 67 bottom only. The 58 is 24" deep and the 67" is 30" deep. I love the drawer latch system in the new Cornwells the best I have ever used IMHO.
