Really hard to tell what the quality is for the RK unit - they don't provide much in the way of detailed product spec's.

Personally - I'd go with the HF unit with side cabinet - that is a pretty well known unit, other modules are available at very reasonable prices, so it is easy to add a top and additional side cabinets. The HF unit is very strong and even with the side cabinet it is still less money. $359.00 + $200.00 = $559.00

I have looked at it at our local store, decent box but my main complain is the rubber drawer detents. I have the old style menards masterforce box with them and unless your shop is heated or your in a warm climate it's a pain. The rubber of the detents gets hard in the cold temps and you have to jerk the drawer open, making the tools in the drawer go everywhere. Now some of the detends are warn out and they don't keep the drawers shut, it's a fine line with them. Sounds like a small problem but its pretty annoying after a few years.

Now the new masterforce have a griplatch style drawer, should be no problem. I'm looking at replacing my masterforce with a used snap on with lock n roll.

A buddy recently bought one for his other shop, as his main shop has a Snap-On box or two. He had bought a Menards box for his trailer and thought the RK box (made by Frontier) was made better than the Menards. He also compared it to the HF 44" box and felt it was better than that box too. Time will tell after some use.

330 lbs, so from a "weight is good" perspective it sounds promising. Not too deep, but deeper than the typical 18" homeowners boxes, not nearly as deep as the big truck boxes. Some like that, some don't. (Depends on how cramped you are for space I suppose...)

I like that they did not make the bottom two drawers into one really deep (useless junk collecting) drawer...

The price is very compelling, but just at first glance the thing I don't like is that it doesn't have any full width drawers. For me that would be one big reason I would upgrade to a 72" box is that I can't put 3' or 4' breaker bars, levels, etc in my current 42" boxes that don't have a any full width drawers either.

This pic is a montezuma with a 49.75" wide drawer.

FWIW, you would have to buy 2 HF side cabinets to compare to the size of the RK, so the price would be about the same, and still the HF setup would not have near the storage capacity of the RK box. So, lets compare apples to apples. The RK box may be a good box for guys looking to build a workbench above a large drawer unit (minus the wheels).

They do have a top chest for that 72"er.

I would go with this box instead of HF's 56"er. Just because you WILL run out of room there's no denying that.

Looked at one at my local Rural King.
It's made in China.
Looks nice-I'm thinking of selling my smaller Snap On box to trade up.

Before you flame the Snappy is only a 42" and has glides on the drawers.
It's not very deep either and I have an old remlline 27" or so next to it that is also stuffed with tools.

Keep the snappy... Oops sorry. And get a masterforce, us general or used snappy. I thought it felt kind of cheap but that's just me.

Looked at one again-think I'm going to pass on it-drawers didn't feel real sturdy.

Good choice. I have a snap on classic 60 and classic 96, very nice boxes. As I said earlier I also have a masterforce box before the griplatch drawer change, that was my only complaint on the old style that the rubber detents would be a pain in cold weather. I was going to replace the masterforce with the new style but decided to go with a used snap on.
