Can some of you give me an idea of what this is worth and whether it (or Microntas in general) are good items? It is used but seems to work well. The only thing close to wrong is there is a smudge on the screen, but it doesn’t interfere with reading the numbers. I have no idea how old it is either.

Thank you,
L

Micronta runs the gamut from cheap to decent. It's an old RadioShack house brand. I can't say for sure about that specific meter, but it sure looks like a decent one. I'd compare the readings to a better meter (if you have access to one) and see how it compares.

Probably a early to mid 90s model, that's around the time RS stopped using the Micronta name. I think after 1994 or so they just started labeling all of their multimeters Radio Shack. I can't speak to that model, but there were some that were pretty decent meters for the money. I'm guessing they had already sold all of that model off by the time I started working there in 1997.

Test leads cost more than what the meter is worth.

Personally.....keep it around as a beater meter...as long as it is working, it's worth more keeping it handy to check if you have line voltage or if a battery is good....

I had that same meter. I bought it in the early 90's when I was starting out in HVAC. It's not a bad meter. I seem to recall it was one of Radio Shacks "better" meters back then. I left it on the hood of my Jeep for about 5 minutes in front of my parents home and it was stolen.

It is RadioShack, among professionals it is, at best, a entry level tool. As to value, I'd suggest about five to ten dollars maximum; if it works properly. If it doesn't work then it is worthless, not worth the cost of repair.

Did yours have a smudge on the screen? :)

Get the FCC ID number off the label on the back then go to...
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm

Plug in the FCC ID and you'll probably find one there.

Can’t get a better pic of the label but there is no FCC labeled number. The only number besides the model is at the bottom – 12A5 010432. Would that be the FCC number?

I removed that 007 number that was scribbled on the case :)

Thank you,
L
