WAY Back, Wiha was one of the 1st better tool brands I got. Back then, it was a set of SO green hardhandles and a decent assortment of Wiha Black Handeled Screwdrivers, precision screwdrivers and Torx Drivers.

Fast forward over the years, I have not ordered Wiha in awhile and Just got a set of their Hex Drivers delivered

I dunno if it's the handles, but sofar I've never been disappointed with a Wiha product I've ordered.

Their screwdrivers and hex drivers are still excellent. No complaints what so ever. And one of the things I like most about the wiha are their handles and super hard tips that seem to wear really well compare to allot of other brands.

Also very happen with the pliers especially the vde ones. And they have great precision tools in their drivers and pliers as well.

They now have a factory in Vietnam that they own. They make the basic and soft grip pliers. The quality is what you would expect form Wiha. But their other tools are still made in Europe. Either Germany or Switzerland.

Wiha's screwdriver tips wear longer, more evenly, and more predictably, than any other brand I've tried, and I've just about tried them all.

I've been using them for many years, and I'm not super thrilled about some production going to Vietnam, but at least their screwdrivers and bits haven't gotten outsourced.

I've gotten some of the import stuff that was pretty "meh", but if you stick to the German made stuff, Wiha can't be beat.

Wera used to be in the same category for me, but the durability and quality dropped significantly when they went from German to Czech manufacture.

The Germans seem to seriously have their **** together when it comes to alloys and heat treatment.

Screwdrivers are great.

I have a set of the SROV (Viet Nam) bent-nose pliers. Managed to chip one of the jaws the first time I used it; very, very brittle. No problems since then, but I've relegated them to light duty only. Heavy stuff gets Channellock or NWS.

For all you Wiha handle gurus, does Wiha Size the handles to the task at hand. Unless it's a placebo effect, or maybe the color, but I SWEAR, the larger sizes in the hollowshaft nutdrivers......the handle seems to be larger than even their non hollowshaft nutdrivers.

Re: WIHA - Any disappoints

Disappointments? Yes. I only have three sets of Wiha screwdrivers. I should have ordered four!

same here, only disappointment is not having enough Wiha precision screwdrivers.

:+1:

My experience as well. I have some of their Torx screwdrivers with the red hard handle (I believe that particular line was branded 'Powerhandle'), and they are outstanding, blows everything else I own away.

Also have a set of mini screwdrivers for the small stuff, also from Wiha, those are fantastic as well and still look brand new at the tips, despite years of use. Considering how small they are and easy to ruin, I'm impressed.

Eh, the missing piece of jaw isn't large enough to affect function, and a new pair would be as brittle as the first I bought. The non-SROV Wiha pliers aren't significantly less expensive than NWS, so I haven't bothered trying them out since I'm pretty set on pliers now.

I friggen love wiha screwrivers

X2 I even like them better than the Klein screwdrivers I own. The only problem I have is what to do with all those Craftsman screwdrivers taking up space in the toolbox.

On this end I've NEVER been disappointed with Wiha. Granted, I stick with their bread and butter products: all my precision screwdrivers and my nut drivers are Wiha, I have a few regular screwdrivers, a couple allen wrench packs, and several t-handle allen wrenches. Out of everything stamped 'Wiha' in my toolbox, the only thing that ever came close to failing was a 2 mm allen wrench that I pounded with a hammer to try and impact-drive out a frozen set screw, when it was obvious from the get-go I should've just drilled it out. I bent it pretty bad, but I threw it in a vice and straightened it best as I could, and even though it ain't much to look at, it still performs well. Highly recommended.

I have never had issues with warranty with wiha. And the vietnam ones I have tried were not brittle, not as nice as my swiss and german made vde ones, but I did not chip anything. You might have gotten a dud. It happens to all brands that one gets out pass QC.

The bread and butter production of wiha are the drivers, vde pliers, precision tools and calipers. Can not go wrong with any of those products.

I like the Wiha micro touch and heavy duty handles, not so much the 3k style. I prefer Hazet, but when Wiha is too much, Hazet isn't on the radar.

Handle preference varies from person to person.

The small black/red ones (precision screwdrivers) are great, highly recommend them.

I don't care for their normal sized handles (311 series). The end is too skinny, so when using Philips and needing to put some force into it, it digs into my hand too much and hurts. Haven't tried the 3K blue handles yet.

The drive-lock system was a let down. They don't slide in/out very well so I sold them off rather than keeping them.
