Honestly based on reviews it seems that Onyko is junk, but I bought this model as an interim receiver for my mom's when it was $140 before, and it actually has good functionality for the price.

Seems they have a TON of reliability and customer service issues to deal with.

Amazon is the one offering it at the big price reduction, and they aren't offering it just at the moment. Keep an eye on it.

Yes, I saw all this when I Googled it before hand. Problems with their HDMI boards and customer service. Just need a way to give a 32" LED TV some good sound and maybe plug in a DVD player. Thanks for your comments.

My dads Onkyo is great... when it works... But that is only about half the time. His receiver was in the $800 range about 5-6 years ago.

I guess it has been awhile since I looked up reviews on them but I always thought they were a good way to get your feet wet in the A/V world. I have always been partial to Denon receivers I guess had great luck with mine so far.
