snap-on SHF80A 1/2" ratchet

i am going to buy this ratchet so i have a longer 1/2". currently i have the S80A and its just to short to get good torque on stubborn nuts that cant be accessed with a impact. i am wondering if the handle is available in green or just the standard red? does anybody know, also any body else have this ratchet and have reviews on it or recommend a different snap-on 1/2 ratchet?

I don't know for sure, as to color availability, but I do have two of the breaker bars in green on the truck-I'd imagine the ratchets would either be available, or the green handles could be removed and swapped around.

I'm absolutely amazed at the folks who will buy a tool because of its color, and those who won't buy one in a given color.

I had to replace all of a guy's hammers because the SBBD56 wasn't available in green any longer.

I had the SHR80A and traded it for an SHL80A
I wanted the added length (3" or so) over the SHR80 and even more so than the S80A.I would avoid the unlocking flex, it's frustrating as heck and just taking off a socket can be a chore with the head flexing all around. I'd say if you don't need the flex, get the SHL80A- I love mine. And finally, any soft grip ratchet can be swapped to green, just order the handle SH936-12G (1/2"). I use an Armstrong 12-994 88T for my flex, wouldn't touch SO

I think the locking flex is probably the most frustrating thing ive ever used. I sold my locking flex the same day i got it.

I was doing the same thing your post was supplying a opinionated answer about a locking/non locking flex head. Excepted i wasnt telling him to not buy it.

I don't like the SO locking flex but I like the normal flex heads. I prefer a matco locking flex if I use one. I find the snap on will lock when I'm trying to use it unlocked and I just want to smash that little button off

+2 on this. It would be so simple for SO to add a deeper channel for the locking button. When you slide it to open, there is no notch to keep it there.

not too many people here like the snap-on mechanism, most that extoll the virtues of locking flex ratchets are talking about the very simple and fool proof Matco/Armstrong version. As stated the Snap-On one is a bit clumsy and can be inadvertently re-engaged. Its also something on the handle to snag or bump. Definitely a lot of room for improvement there.

Ive got a SHLF80A and a SF80. Id probably trade in the SF80 for the softgrip if I had a chance. If Im using a ratchet that size Im sure the fastener is froze/tight and the soft grip is easier for me to hold onto in these situations.
