Question about SK screwdrivers.

I got these in trade the other day but don't think I have ever used a SK screwdriver. Can anyone clue me in as to their vintage, COO, quality, and fair street value? I probably won't keep them . Happy new year everyone.

Fairly new, Made in USA. SK called them SureGrip and were a dark harvest green when new.

I also have a set of those and mine are made in France and I found that the coo is molded in the handle at least mine were not sure about yours.

Facom era SureGrips were made in France at times. The OP's set look to be during the private ownership period with that particular logo.

I have two SK screwdrivers like those that were made in France. They're tough as nails and rival the tool truck screwdrivers.

I have a set of screwdrivers with that handle. Mine are made in France. I bought my SK screwdrivers in the mid 90's "FACOM" era. If you buy a new set of SK screwdrivers today with the same handles they are made in the USA. If you look on the **** of the screwdriver you will see the word "France" molded in the handle....If they are made in france.

From the pictures, I'd say French made because of the bolster size and tapered handles. The new Ideal made SK screwdrivers utilize larger pry bar type handles on their current green handled screwdrivers made by western forge. I like it that the new ones are US made but, I don't care for the shape of the new handles.
Check completed listings on Ebay to get an idea of current market value. They weren't that expensive new though. Great screwdrivers though. The ony complaint I had with them was that the handle got slippery when covered in ATF or coolant.

The screwdrivers shown in the OP I think are the only style I don't have. I get lost though reading people's verbal description of screwdrivers. When someone says "green handled", I think of the older style from the 1960s shown in my first photo - love those. The second photo shows Facom/S-K screwdrivers made in France, but they aren't stamped either USA or France.

I have a "set" of those too and they have France molded into them. Of course I'm missing the only one I actually need...the #2. I wonder if it's the same creature that steals single socks from the dryer that also swipes my #2 screwdrivers haha. I have 3 sets from different brands with missing #2 drivers I'm trying to complete and of course they're all "rare" sets now so I can't find them.

without a doubt, those are french made screwdrivers. afaik, that particular screwdriver was only made in france. the tapered handle is the giveaway. let me know when you want to sell them.

i have that set, its USA. i only twisted a small flat just the other day, and i was defintly not using it on a good screw. had to use the impact driver to get the screws out.

You guys aren't paying attention to the SK logo. That diamond logo was used by SK when they went private and broke off from Facom.

So, there are 3 USA made and 3 French made in that pic.

Those drivers are good quality. As far as value, if they are in decent shape, about $2. a piece IMO

They appear to be the ones made in France, some of the millwrights at work have them I think the are probably good for a mechanic but no electrician would ever use them

ha ha phil! don't tarnish your reputation knowing who i am. when are you going to come visit me? having some real nice weather, actually got up to about 15 degrees today.

not so sure about that. i do remember seeing those marked that way but i highly doubt it was at the end. i have the 2008 catalog wich was the last one. i also have some nos tools in the original packaging from that time wichwas after the split from facom. that logo is not on any of the tools, packaging or catlog. the only logo present is S dot K. i do know that some tools were marked < S dot K > but the only peices i know that carried that were tough 1 ratchets and some breaker bars.

if you can come up with some advertising or packaging to prove otherwise me wrong i would be very interested as that would help date mfg at some time in the future.

in fact, i just pulled out a 97 catalog. guess what? that logo is all over it and is the catalog with the most compehensive assortment of facom items. i can definatavely say that logo is not from the private ownership period.

good question, my get instinct tells me mayhew a i have a mayhew bar with that similar mark on the shank but i really have no idea.

when i know something factual i will set the record straight as i am pretty well versed on sk history but when i am don't know i will readily admit it.

The PO finally found the stubbies for me. He is pretty sure that they were all purchased at the same time but found some of the drivers in his father's "daily use" bag and some of them in the back of a drawer. All of them are stamped "France" so I am guessing that the labels may have worn off the "daily use" drivers. Thanks for all the info. I will have the whole set up for sale for about $25 when I get my classified thread going.

Same here. I bought one SK screwdriver to see if I'd like it. It's a good driver but I prefer other grips better. I haven't used it in slippery conditions, but it doesn't grab the hand as well. I like the Williams/Snapon hard handles better. I like my regular craftsman handles better too. But I like my SK socket sets. I bought some wrench sets and they are nice, but a little shorter than I expected.
