montezuma toolboxes

I have never heard of them before this forum but I have heard great things on here and also at strictlytoolboxes.com plus the prices are really low for the reviews they receive. Anyways, I just found out that they ship to Canada so I am thinking about buying one of the 56" boxes (http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/mo...uma-tool-boxes-56-11-drawer-tool-cabinet.html) as I don't have the room for the 72" but need more than the 41" to fit all my tools. What do you guys think about the Montezuma boxes? do they hold up in a professional setting?

Very nice box. The Sears by me has a smaller one and I have messed around with it. Haven't heard any bad on the forum about them either.

I've had great luck with mine, absolutely love the box and the build quality puts most offerings at the big box stores to shame. GJ members get a discount, FYI, so if you end up pulling the trigger, definitely look into that.

Only thing to watch out for, at least on some of the larger boxes, is the detents for the drawers. In cold weather, they can be a bit stiff. Not much of a problem here in AZ except for the coldest part of the "winter" (I use the term loosely), but YMMV.

Overall, I'm very happy with the value for the money spent. My $.02 anyway, take it for what it's worth.

Thanks just wondering if the larger drawers have double slides to support the heavier duty and oversized tools plus power tools as I have a fair collection of them as well

On the 72", yes, the full width, deep drawer had double slides. I think you can see the configuration for each one in the details on their site, or at least you used to.

I know a guy at one of my accounts with the 56" Extreme and it is the same build quality as mine. Mine came from Strictly toolbox and his came from the Matco guy.

Both of our are the 30" deep models.

after adding the box to cart and giving my country and province it still said that I was eligible for free shipping, even if not I don't mind paying for shipping if the box is well worth my while and from the sounds of things it just might be, thanks for letting me know though just in case so I'm not surprised by extra charges

No i own a auto repair shop in california. Changed the name from desert rat to just Desert Automotive because i didnt want to get mixed up with them. But i still like the name desert rat so i used it as my username.

Study all of the weights and metal thicknesses and you will find that the 56" and 72" Extreme's have the most metal and drawer load rating.
Not saying that makes it better. I am sure the Mont... is a great box.

I will say that mine is a pain to push. I did not pay extra for the spring casters since it just sits in a garage. Would not be a good mobil box for a factory.

Yes, it has four M10x1.5 bolts.
All of the attachment points on the sides are this size.

I think the only boxes on Strictly toolboxes that are not China made are the Lista brand boxes.

Even with them being made in China, I've been drooling over Shannon's 72" offerings for quite awhile now. That been said; When a 30" deep, 72" model becomes available in Orange, my Snap-On will be found on Craigslist that same day. I truly love my KRA top and bottom combo, but I'm tired of reaching for tools in the upper drawers of my top box. I'm 6'1", and can't stand having the top of my box at chin level. Plus, the only way to expand is to add a mid box, taking it even taller. Sca-rew that. If I could give any advice, it's to go as wide as space (and $) will allow.

It's a shame because I wanted to get a Montezuma box top with the pegs inside, etc.. and when I found out they sold out to China it turned me off completely.

I got a quick response from Shannon yesterday, here is what he has to say about discounts. This was in response to the ToolVault 56":

"We work with GJ members the best we can. Freight rates are so high that there often is not room to discount. For example if you are in New York, New Jersey, Washington state. Our shipping charges are just too high to offer any discount on the 5621"

I too would recommend going wider if you can and maybe not stacking a top box. Te 5621 is a good deal though.

if I had the space I would buy a 72" and a small top chest (or road chest) to carry around with me for smaller jobs but my garage at this time is my grandfathers garage, I hate to use up all his space, and he lives on the other side of town so it is difficult when I need a tool at the house. I am bringing all of them up to my house to work on my truck that I may be getting in a weeks time. but it will be setting in my room, so a 48"-56" box is all that space permits at this time.
