Finally got the shop all squared away, Momma's "Honey Do List" caught up and the house/yard projects completed for this season!

I still have to run hard air lines and a few misc items in the shop but I can manage temporarily. Got most of my stuff put away, given away or SOLD! (Told myself that it's time to quit bein a packrat. I think I still need more therapy though:rolleyes:) Installed insulation and corrugated sheet metal on all the walls. Ran ALL NEW electrical in 3/4" EMT conduit at the top of the walls for clearance and ease of drops. Installed some new T8 lighting. Got my lathe at least set in place location wise. Installed new loft pulldown stairs and removed fixed stairs for more wall space. Reinforced my loft area as the previous owner did a pretty shabby job with 2"x6" joists and a 2"x10" header for a 24'wx12'd span. It's now 4"x12" headers and a 6"x14" Versa-Lam running down the center with 2"x8" sistered floor joists and a new 6"x6" post.

Here's some shots just before I got everything totally squared away. It's quite a bit cleaner now.

Also picked up a new welder. Millermatic 180 w/Auto-set. I wanted a 252 but I'm gonna hold off on the $$$$ for that for a while.

Picked up a new nut & bolt bin from Harbor Freight for cheap!$60-

Even color coordinated my electrical panel.:lol_hitti

Boy, if I knew that galvanized steel siding wasn't going to oxidize and turn dull I'd have to seriously consider it instead of white, it looks pretty slick, and probably cheaper than the painted stuff. Wonder if you could clearcoat or wax it to keep it shiney??

Being inside and not exposed to the weather and moisture it should be fine. Even if it does it still has a bulletproof wear & tear factor. Even if I gouge or damage a panel it's pretty easy to replace or leave for reference of what not to do next time:headscrat.

As far as price?? I did a little horse trading with my Dad for some computer services so he picked up the bill. I think it was like $.33 a lineal foot? I am going to do the loft face with it as well. Gonna make it look like an old store front.

What are those mats under your cars?

I got them at Costco. They are called G-Floor. I think they were $179+ a piece but they are awesome. If I need to weld/fab etc I can roll it up versus having an epoxy floor I need to tak extra precautions with. If I am tearing down or making a serious greasy mess it makes cleanup VERY NICE! They also keep the cold from penetrating through the concrete as well. Much nicer working down on the ground now. They clean up very well and look nice. I am thinking about buying a 3rd one to go across the top section in front of the current 2.

Link to their website>> G-FLOOR

Quoted size on the package is 7.5' x 17' but they are actually a little bigger than that about 8' x 17.5'.

Love the Novas!

Regards,

Stan

Thanks Stan! I live & breath for these cars. I've always been of the power/weight ratio belief!! I drive this one every day and even have a set of snow tires for it! More for ice then snow though.

As I stated in the original thread I am in the process of putting a 4.3L V6/4L60E trans in it for reliability and a little better fuel economy. My kids totally love the car. Funny thing is I originally bought it for PARTS for my 2door but I just didn't have the heart to tear it down. 70k original mile car. I've done quite a few modifications to it for reliability and safety. You can see them here if your interested?>
Wouldn't you know it! I post a link and the site is down. Well it will work when the site is back up.:wtf: 4DR Upgrades

Nice - looks like everything has a place... a real working garage.....

Is that a Atlas lathe you have there.... if not it's a dead ringer for the Atlas I have. Babbitt bearings, manual gear change... etc.

It's a Sourth Bend 9"x4' lathe. Not sure on the year but it's pretty old. My Dad has had it for a long time just sitting around his shop not in use. I asked him what he was gonna do with it and the next weekend he showed up with it in his van and told me to put it to use. It came with a ton of tooling as well as a 3 jaw and 4 jaw chuck. I can't wait to start using it!

JR2... AWESOME SHOP! Now that's the way a shop is supposed to look....fully equiped and USED!

Thanks!! It's not a showroom but I like it. It has areas that I can do most things I need to do, have my nifty junk in there and still get things done. I even host my car club meetings
DSCF5891.jpg

poker nights and movie nights often in there. My buddies dig it! It's my home away from home (about 120' away from home to be precise:bounce:) I plan on purchasing a few more machines/tooling as time & money permit. The 16'x42' addition on the side of the building will give me just about enough room to keep me content for a while.
