It is a good price, and while I don't own any GearWrench tools, the consensus of this board seems to be they are good quality.

I wonder how anyone can sell a 1/2" drive socket set for $1.21 per piece including the ratchet, extensions, case and free shipping.:headscrat

I don't like 12 point sockets but, the price seemed too good to be true at $34.23. I ordered a set too. I'll see if it shows up. Thanks for sharing, :beer:

I'm really tempted. That's a great deal. But even at that price, should I do it???

Anyway, I just noticed that the lid on the case is removable. That's a neat idea. I guess everybody does that, just never realized it.

Damn, that sounds crazy cheap! I still haven't gotten to the point, where I feel like I would buy ratchets or sockets from Gearwrench but I am happy with their ratcheting wrenches! Maybe, I need to try them out but I would assume they would be better then standard Craftsman stuff! Has anyone tried out their sockets? I would interested in someone "reviewing" then sockets when they show up! Unfortunately, until they sell open stock at Sears you would be stuck sending the sockets in for warranty replacement at this point; which could be a problem if you were if the middle of a project! Maybe they will expand their line at Sears and it will be easier to exchange in the future.

I guess Gearwrench copies Snap on A LOT. Gearwrench sockets look and feel like Snap on, although I do not know if they will hold up well. I just received a Gearwrench 1/2" dr ratchet. I am very impressed by the quality and feel of their steel.

I admire Gearwrench because they actually can make it better in one way or another when they copy Snap on.

Has any one else recieved their sets? UPS just dropped mine off.

Very nice finish on all pieces in the set. No flaws that I've found yet.

Ratchet has a very positive action. Tried it on a couple of bolts on a tractor worked very well. Slightly coarse tooth feel.

I love the knurling on the extensions. A very nice touch.

Unfortunately no camera so If some one else could post pics of theirs?

Yep. Feels like oiled not greased. Reminds me of a couple of F936's I used to have. All things considered seems well worth what I payed for them.

I was actually surprised at the finish and feel of them. I just wish the 3/8's set would drop that low.

Yeah I noticed too that the GW 1/2" drive ratchet's action is a bit coarse in comparison to their 3/8" and 1/4" . So how do we grease it? Do we have to open it up in order to do this?

Will an altenative ATF bath solve this?

Open it up and pull the gear out and wipe off whatever lube is on there, then apply the Permatex to all the teeth. Put one drop on the plunger ball if it has one, or over the pawl.

I think a GearWrench ratchet might be held together with a snap ring. :headscrat
