Anyone have one of these, http://www.tooltopia.com/3m-automotive-7547.aspx? After the brake runout thread I remembered seeing one of these a while ago and thought about getting one but forgot about it. Seems like it would be a good thing to get the mating surface totally clean and flat for a new rotor. I thought I remembered snap on or one of the other trucks offereing a kit like this but can't find it anymore. Was thinking about picking up the 3M kit for the next brake job.

We use those, the soft roloc pads, and a needle scaler if needed to clean hubs daily at work. They work well.

We use them at work but, check your local Napa because I only paid $20 for my last kit. Astro pneumatic and kent moore make versions too. The purple abrasive disc in the 3m kits aren't the regular scotchbrite type discs. They're stiffer and different. handy tool when combined with a cordless drill.

Thanks guys. I'll have to pick one up the next time I do a brake job. I just work on friends and family cars so I usually don't charge them but throw a tool or two in for the labor so who ever needs brakes next will be buying me one of these kits!

I ended up finding a 3m set on ebay brand new for 10 dollars with free shipping! There was 3 of them available and I bought one. Was going to buy all three but figured one with 5 discs should last me a while, not sure how long the discs last but guess I'll find out.

If anyone is interested in the other two here is the link, http://www.ebay.com/itm/221174190643?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649. I don't know this seller and the price is really cheap, especially with free shipping so buy at your own risk. But I figured for 10 bucks shipped it was worth the gamble.

I was one, and thumbs up for not being a greedy hoarder!

Glad you got it! I thought about getting all three for the replacement pads but replacement pads are about the same price per pad so I figured I'll just order replacement pads when needed. I didn't need 3 holders. Just couldn't believe it was 9.99 with free shipping when they are around 30 plus shipping new. Figured I'd pass on the deal since I've gotton so many great deals from others on here!

I'm not sure how long the pads last but I would assume 5 pads will last a while for a DIYer.

Why use the kit on these cars? They have bolts instead of wheel studs, just use a regular roloc.

During my searching last night I came across a pad made for those that is just a big turtle looking thing that goes on the whole hub mating surface.
