After yet another GREAT over the phone warranty (one 1/8 punch) I asked the lady the policy on drill bits and air hammer bits. She looked it up, both are covered.

I have heard conflicting answers, so figured I'd post. ;)

What is the part number of the drill bit? I find it hard to believe.

Any drill bit. I did not warranty one, was just debating who to buy from. I asked her the policy and she said yes, lifetime. I was warranting a 1/8 punch and figured I'd ask.

On a side note, Mac has actually warrantied carbide die grinder bits for me and as far as I know they also warranty drill bits.

I guess if you all ready paid for it three times over you should be able to replace it at least once.

:lol_hitti

I do agree that is a nice warranty to have. If I was at a shop where I was working with my tools everyday and I had a snap on guy coming by every week then I would be drinking the kool aid as fast as anyone.

My mac guy warranties every mac drill bit I have. Thats why I bought them from him. He told me lifetime warranty all the way down to the smallest one. I said sold. lol

SO warrantied a busted air hammer bit a couple months ago.
i was kinda surprised they did, back in the day they were considered a "consumable" item, and not covered under warranty.

after 20 years of hammering it finally broke.

might have been the nearly 500 wheel studs i changed in one day that finally did it in...:eyecrazy:

The air hammer chisel bits even when they get short from being sharpened a bunch of times they'll even warranty.

I recently bought a Snap On air hammer and I actually browsed thru the book. I found this statement re warranty in the back and it sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Anyway, here is their warranty statement, in writing:

"Consumable products are not covered by any warranty. Consumable products are goods reasonably expected to be used up or damaged during use including but not limited to drill bits, saw blades, grinding discs, sanding discs, knife blades, files, taps, dies, oxygen sensors, and batteries"

Now, I'm sure many people will get the above replaced on warranty despite what is says. But if you are denied, that covers it.

All the Snap-On dealers I've had have always replaced my air hammer bits, even the ones worn down to a nub......no questions asked.

Are SO drill bits USA or foreign?

they have a few different sets. Some are rebranded Irwin, others are triumph thunderbits branded snap-on. I'd consider a set from them IF they were covered for breakages/wear but the resident dealers here have stated that was not the case. Honestly they should cover them, otherwise whats the point in spending 400-600 for a set of bits that you can get direct for half the price?
