OK I know all about the crappy TJ HVAC wiring design. The blower still doesn't work! I'd like to have some heat this winter and more importantly AC this summer.

I've replaced everything; blower motor, resuistor pack, switches and now the whole three switch cluster.
Now I need the blower motor control head wire harness. It was damaged/melted before I replaced the motor. I just didn't see it before. The swtich cluster didn't come with it. Does anyone know where I can find this three wire plug?

My '99 TJ needs some help!

Head to a junkyard. I think those control units are the same as an XJ. If that's the case you shouldn't have trouble finding one.

However, any you find will also most likely be melted. when the resistor goes out the whole wiring circuit overheats and takes that plug with it. I went through the same search, pulled about 10 of them from the junkyard and all the plugs were melted.

The asinine engineer who designed that system should be shot as it sends full voltage through the HVAC control.

When I fixed the resistor in my XJ I put in 3 relays for the fan speeds, haven't had a problem since. I can't believe that these were never recalled.

Call or email this guy. http://www.daveysjeeps.com/ You wont find a TJ in many junkyards. Also there are MANY mid year model changes. This is where I send my customers when I can't find what they need. Good guy. All he does is part out wranglers. Will ship all over the country. He is located in Northeastern Ohio. Keith

Yes too much. I've already read everything and I know that it is a crappy design and that there is no easy fix. I've replaced just about everything except the wiring harness and THAT is NOT gonna happen. LOL

Thanks for reminding me about that site. Lots of great info there.

fwiw I picked up a replacement blower harness for my WJ on ebay. It was about $10. I don't know if anyone is making similar kits for the TJ, but it's worth a look.

I know that I don't want a used one. Same weakness. The Ebay replacement one might be the same one I'm getting from Morris. We'll see.

It's a Jeep. . . Just Empty Every Pocket. What did you expect! :lol_hitti

So true. But I've found that my TJ has been by and large pretty reliable. It hasn't let me down yet.

JEEPFORUM.COM
go to the TJ section should be lots of stuff on that

I go there often but there is simply TOO MANY OPINIONS about this TJ HVAC issue. I gets very confusing.

I'm having the same problem with my TJ. Where is that switch located?

It's the three swich cluster in the center. The Connecter in question is the only three wire connector back there; hot, ground and control wire. It powers the Blower Fan Motor. I've replaced the speed switch and the motor so I just replaced the whole thing. Now I just need this new connector.

I jerry rigged so that its working until I get the new connector. So I had heat this morning!

Just recently fixed a Grand Cherokee with no heat with a new blower motor, new resistor, and junkyard control panel (manual). Ended up being the ground wire to the control panel knob was not good. This particular unit had no "hot" in the control panel. I ran a ground from the control knob to the dash bracing and voila

I never tought about checking the ground wire!

The damn ground wire! I bet that's it. I'll check that when i replace the plug this weekeend. Hell, I probably just run another ground anyway.
Thanks MG44

ahh, I should have been clearer. The one I got was a kit that someone put together with the right connector, wiring and a few bullet connectors to splice the new plug on, not a used factory harness. It worked out great on my Grand. I have no idea of the TJ setup is similar though.
