Tools for Tackle?

I know that technically that this should probably be in the "wanted" section but I figured I would get some more traction out here. I also figured that most of you are to blame for my addiction and subsequently you should all have to bear with me.

Jokes aside, I could easily run with best on here if my tackle were tools (ultra high end freshwater stuff). That said and given my aforementioned tool addiction, if anyone is interested in converting sockets, swivels, impacts, and ratchets into G.Loomis rods, Shimano Cores, and Luckycraft Pointers or anything else let's talk!!!

Thanks in advance,

-Paul

Here's an article in the current In-Fisherman Gear Guide 2013 which I was lucky enough to be part of.

I'll bite. I have a set of 1/4" drive deepwell sockets I would be willing to part with. Vintage 7 piece set of PM (Popular Mechanics) brand from that great American stalwart WalMart. Surprisingly little rust considering how much time they've spent in a boat. Made in Taiwan, better than China, eh. Willing to trade for say a GLX844 with a Chronarch MG 50 or 100. You can keep the Cores. If you're game, I might just land my first suckage award.

That sounds good but I would probably have to give you at least an NRX to make the deal fair. Even though you didn't know, I would feel badly about robbing you like that. :bounce::bounce:

You speak of the CH50MG and it's older brother by namesake only the CH100MG. Both great reels which are still in my tournament rotation. I wish I had picked up a few more before they discontinued them. I guess I really miss the CH100MG the most. It casts light stuff so well and currently serves on my weightless t-rig Senko rod (JWR 893 NRX). Mind you I have gotten awfully fond of the Calais DC ;)

What is this NRX you speak of? Is it like a billion modulus or more? I'm cleaning a 50 mg right now. Lost 2 bearing retaining clips already this morning.

I feel like a drug dealer hanging out in the school yard giving out "treats" knowing that addiction will soon set in.

NRX is the bomb baby!! It's a brand new graphite material designed by Steve Rajeff and G.loomis. They also worked cooperatively with 3M to create the most sophisticated resin technology incorporating nano silica which matches the pore size of the graphite fibers. Technology aside the rods are the most sensitive, lightest and most powerful rods on the planet. Using your MB844GLX as a common baseline (one of our best selling rods to date) the equivalent JWR 854NRX would be lighter (partially due to the titanium hybrid guide train) considerably faster and a bit more sensitive.

The differences though noticeable are still being made amongst 2 of the best rods ever created. You must remember that the MBR844 GLX was first created in 1994 and though the graphite cloth has enjoyed "upgrades" the taper and design have not changed that much. And despite that it is still viewed as one of the best rods ever created and their are real pro's out there that will be buried with them.

It would be no different than when Snap-On comes out with the replacement for the Dual 80's. How much better are they gonna be and will it effect our ability to perform.

So using Garage Journal philosophy, go get you some NRX's

If you are in a pinch for retaining clips for your MG50's let me know I should have some that I could send you. BTW they will be identical to the old Curado 100B's (green body)

Here's a cool NRX video

Cheers

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
Having many G.Loomis rods (over 20) I can highly recommend you look into Grandt rods, I have a dozen of this custom made pieces and they are all outstanding. Another G.Loomis tidbit, I have a few sets of golf clubs with G.Loomis IMX shafts, they are the best, unfortunately G.Loomis sold that portion of his business to Aldila whom promptly sold it. Personally I'm more of a walleye and muskie kind of guy, better eatin' or fightin'.

A great sleeper in reels is Okuma, they actually make a lot of the high pieces for a few big names, a few of the reels have 10, 11, 12 and 14 ball bearings and they are my go to.

For Muskie, its Abu Garcia Ambassedeurs for me, and if you need one repaired I highly recommend Jenk's Bait and Tackle, reel repair in Hayward, Wisconsin, simply the best I've dealt with.

Lamiglass is a great American Company and actually where Gary Loomis got his start. The Lamiglass factory which I have visited is only a few miles from G.Loomis in Woodland Washington. Gary was fresh out of the Navy where he worked as a machinist and decided to trade his expertise manufacturing equipment for fishing rod blanks. When he started his involvement with Lamiglass was merely a method to fuel his desire to create a better tool to catch the silver fish which inhabited the Lewis River. Eventually Gary worked full time at Lamiglass but left when his desire to switch production to graphite from fibreglass was met with much resistance. This was about 1970.

The rest is a much longer and colorful story.

Here's my Channel (FishinMission2601) and my 2012 Season Recap Video if you guys are interested!!! (I am the one kid wearing Blue Costa Del Mars and Pelagic/Aftco gear)

Joey, Nice fish. I have been kinda following you since you made us aware of your fishing passion in the thread which you started awhile back.

Keep it up. You should also try the Talica 2 speed they are awesome. If you're into overhauling your own tackle check out my friends site. He has the most comprehensive saltwater tutorials including pictures.

Thanks, they are incredibly useful under the right conditions. I just wish they could make them work in 20' of water!!!

BTW your fondness of Lamiglass will soon further improve. David Dudley the best tournament bass fisherman in the world was recently signed to a three year contract with Lamiglass to help them develop a new series of rods. I interviewed him on my show last week and he's really excited. The show aired last Saturday morning but if you're interested I can send you a link to the podcast.

Yeah all the tackle we got is a lot of money and Shimano is a very reputable brand so I think I will have the gear we got for a loooooong time. I have seen that website before. Very Nice. I have used the Talica before and they are very nice. I don't do much jigging (because that's what I would use it for) so I got the Tyrnos 16 two speed and a 14000 Saragosa for high speed tuna jigging. We use either our 10 Tiagras or our 4 Tyrnos. We like to troll a 9 rod spread so we need a lot lol. I love tuna trolling!!!!!!
