Found this in a fellow deal forum and ordered one. I saw a similar set in store at lowes for ~$150, so this seemed like a decent deal, especially w/ the tool kit. hopefully it lasts longer than the el cheapo one i picked up at menards awhile back and burned through.

Does anyone know if Rockwell blades/tools are interchangeable w/ any other models?

There is a few different models of these but I was staring at a set today at Lowes and it was indeed $150. They had a few sitting in the clearance corner and thats what caused me to investigate it. At $50 with free shipping I couldnt pass this up as I have a project I need it for.

Looks like Amazon carries it for $107

Some brands yes, and there are adapters you can buy too that increase which brands work.

I already have 1 and would get another for $50. The cutting blades alone sell for $10-15 each, so it's an even trade just in blades.

Thanks to the OP, and also for the Ebates suggestion!!! I've been wanting one of these tools for quite some time now. The latest issue of The Family Handyman did a write up about the different brands available, so that got me more motivated to get one. Perfect timing with this sale - just ordered one and can't wait to find things to do with it.

I had purchased one previously for the $149.00, just ordered another for $49.00, great price. I use this more than I ever thought that I would. It will do the job when nothing else will. Good quality, just don't force the cut, let the blade do the work to keep from burning them up.

good price but it's corded and proprietary attachment. The industry standard is OIS mounting plate with 12 holes.

I really want milwaukee to come out with their M18 oscillating tool.

There are many jobs this type of tool can uniquely do:

A few are:
Sand into a corner.
Plunge cut a notch with straight edges.
Cut out flooring and subfloor flush with the baseboard.
Cut through plastic pipe tightly recessed between two studs.

It can also do mortise cuts and general trim cutting.

I got one of these refurbished for $50 a year or so ago, great tool. You won't regret it if you get one. For a long time I was stumped at how to effectively sand the corners of a toolbox I was repainting, and this solved that problem nicely.

Just purchased and did Ebates. I also saved another 7% by buying a Lowes gift card on Cardpool. Lowes and HD cards currently going for 7% off face value.

this is a good deal. They are clearing these rockwells out because the NEW ones have a tool-less blade change. the new model can use any OS blades out there.

These ones for $49 are great, i have had one for 3 years. It gets pretty warm after continuous use, but much cheaper than my multimaster.

Nice deal. I wasn't thrilled with some of the reviews I read on Amazon, but I've had these Lowe's gift cards burning a hole in my pocket since the Michael's deal and this seemed too good to pass up. Hopefully I'll find a use for this someday.

What is ebates? I am on their site but they won't let me navigate without giving an email and joining?

I want to pick this tool up because everyone is saying it does a great job... Just wondering what I would use it for honestly.. $150 hell no, but for $50 it might be good just to have?

Thanks,
-Nigel

Yes, you need to register to use ebates, which will give you 6% money back by check after months.

From my experience, sanding in tight place is the most useful feature for this oscillating tool. For other functions, I have other right tools.

I got mine today and it's defective. The variable speed knob has an issue. It will not work unless the selector is pushed in. Back it goes, but I'm going to order another one.

I got mine too, much more substantial than the el cheapo menards one I burned through. I too was skeptical of the usefulness of this tool, but after cutting some garage paneling, sanding tight places, etc, i upgraded to this model.

Speaking of menards, if anyone has a local menards, check their blade stock. they're clearing out a good selection of them at 50% off that specifically fit this model. plus they've got 11% rebate through 1/26.

I received mine today and Im very impressed. Nice tool and case. Comes with an adaptor so dremel, fein, and bosch blades cane be used. Does not have a qiuck change but thats not a big deal to use the supplied wrench to change blades. Love it
