So I ordered the Kastar sae thread chasing tap sets a couple of weeks ago. The guy looks them up and says they're in stock and ready to ship. The other day i call to check on the order. Told they are back ordered until the end of this month and that I was sent an email about it. Triple check my email and nothing. I immediately cancel anything when i hear the words back ordered.

So now I'm pissed because I was told they are in stock and they are not. Could have gotten them somewhere else, ya know? Then I am told i was sent an email and i was not.

Damn it, fine just cancel the order please. She says ok. Then I get a call later that day saying they have already been shipped, so the order can't be cancelled. Ok, good news I guess....I just want my tools.

I rarely order online. A few great experiences with HJE and sometimes motorcycle stuff. Never waited this long for anything. Is this typical of the bigger tool sites?

To wrap it up........anyone wanna loan me some thread chasing taps?

Put them in your black book of never ever order from these people again as I usually do then forget about them the only way you effect places like that is do not buy from them. Long story short no sales they close up there doors.

I usually just use tooltopia. They have fast shipping. I had a problem with a jack being damaged during shipping. Tooltopia contacted hein Werner and the replacement wheels were here in two days.

They just don't have their act together.

I ordered a bunch of Milton V air fittings from them. (40 or so). Although the website said they were in stock, half were not. then I received incorrect fittings. I contacted them and they said they would ship the correct fittings when they were in stock

Half my order was backordered, and were supposed to ship in like 4-6 weeks. they never shipped until I contacted them again. I don't think that they ever would have shipped. I was also charged for everything when the original order was placed.

It then took 4-5 emails to sort out (again) the issues with the incorrect original shipment, and get the remaining fittings shipped to me.

They were the cheapest I found, but certainly not worth the hassle and the month and a half wait to get them all.

Oh yea. The best price for the kastar retreading kit is sears. It is branded craftsman.

I wonder if it has anything to do with kastar. I'm think they changed hands. Fleet Farm stocks the retread kits and their old school ratcheting wrenches. Other week when I was there, there was old stock kastar and new I think logan brand kits. Other then package color, they were identical. Yes the new product was proudly labled Kenosha, WI USA.

That's exactly what I was gonna do, but i thought......I ain't givin' my money to Sears. I'll take a chance and try one of the non HJE sites since they didn't have these chasers.

Had the same issue with another vendor and was slammed by GJ members because it was ordered right before Christmas. Order was backordered and they didn't bother emailing or anything and weeks go by and no order. When I called the still had not shipped so I cancelled the next day via email to the contact I had been talking to and then was told it had shipped. Checking the logs and email times it was shipped after I emailed by hours and I've come to the conclusion that these "discount" tool businesses don't actually carry anything. They sell via online websites and get orders for items then they go to the manufacturer and order whatever to complete the order and claim the backorder excuse if it takes too long.
BTW,
I got the parts and one was completely wrong. I didn't bother even emailing them. I fired them from ever being a supplier to me again. Glad it was only $70 and not more to find out how bad they are. Cheap isn't always best.

Wow. I've ordered from ToolSource about half a dozen times now, and have had zero issues.

Based on my experience, I'd say this is a fluke. They've always been up front with me on whether or not something was actually in stock, or if it would be drop-shipped, but either way, nothing ever had any kind of unreasonable delay. Shipping was always pretty prompt.

Sorry you're having an issue with them! :(

I also have ordered several times from toolsource without any issues! These weren't any mega $$$ orders but were items that I couldn't find anywhere even though I knew the mfg. made the items.

My experience wasn't recent, and I know things can change over time, but I bought some diagnostic-related stuff from toolsource in the past and had no trouble at all.

Maybe your items showed up on inventory but had walked off in the hands of an unscrupulous employee? Wouldn't be the first time that's ever happened... Several times I've called local companies and they "well, the computer shows we have it but I can't find it".

The old "Kastar" is now "Logan". It is exactly the same set.

That might have something to do with it.
