I've got this same heater in my 2 car also. As for the fan, here's the solution I used:

fanhf.jpg

$15 box fan on chains about 12" from ceiling, cord runs across and down to a handy box with a standard light dimmer switch. Fan switch is on "high", dimmer allows me to adjust breeze as needed. Works great summer or winter. Been in place about 12 years, fan's starting to whine a little so I might replace it soon.

For the record this is a good thread. I have been a garage
Dweller for a long time and never had the comfort of
a heated garage .I live in Denver and have a 950 sq garage
Yesterday I installed a ventless infrared heater. Love the comfortable heat but my garage is sealed well.
It dose put of a smell from the combustion. So I'm feeling that I'm going to
Install a forced air heater as well. I'm learning the benefits of both types of heat. I think it will be less of a smell when things warm up and it's not kicking all night long.. The girls love it cause they can smoke cigarettes and not be freezing in the garage. Maybe it's the cigarettes I smell... Jk.
Good job on a good thread.

After a Few months of using this heater I love it. it raised the gas bill 50.00 a month,if I leave it on all the time. The radiant heat is awesome never gets old.If its real cold out and it keeps running ill notice a ill bit of condensation on the garage windows. I open the door to the house and it goes away keeps humidity in the house.
Im very happy with it.It heats my whole 1000 ft garage.

I built mine with a circulating blower and kick it on when I want a warmer working environment. When it gets up to a better temp I open the door into the house to equalize temps, unless I am doing something with fumes or really noisy. I do not have moisture problems (from the ventless), maybe because I am mixing the ventless and furnace heat. This works for me and no gas odors from the ventless. I like it.

As an update:
I have been running my vent free (with a fan) 24/7 for the last 2 months. It has added an extra $28.00 per month to the gas bill, but the benefits are great. I can walk out into the garage any time with just a t-shirt on, cut a piece of wood or change the thermostat in my truck. It takes about 30 minutes to recoup after I pull a vehicle in. Moisture has never been a problem. My basement opens into the garage and I usually keep that door open also. Without the fan on to circulate the air I catch some odor when I open the door from the house, so I would always recommend one with a fan.

Have you noticed either the fan motor or the dimmer switch getting hot? It was my understanding that light dimmers were not supposed to be used on anything other than incandescent light bulbs.
