Plate Mounted Made in USA Compressors?

Hi Folks,

My first post here...I chose this site because of all the helpful information I've found here!

I'm a Made in USA advocate, and am willing to search around and spend a little more money for it. All my tools are Made in USA...I insist.

I need to replace my dead Craftsmann oil-less compressor. The motor burned up, and I don't want to replace it with another oil-less unit that rattles my teeth when it runs. I bought in in 1998, and it was Made in USA at that time, but I don't think any Craftsman units are currently.

It has a nice tank that is in perfect shape, along with the regulator and pressure switch. The tank has a nice flat mount surface. All I really need is a pump and motor, preferably pre-assembled on a mount plate I can just bolt up.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a Made in USA plate-mounted oil-lube air compressor in the 1-2HP range that will service a ~25gal tank and runs 120V (20A is OK)?

Jenny has some units, but I don't see them widely available:
http://www.jennyproductsinc.com/stationary/baseplatedelectric.html

Other then these, my searches have come up mostly empty.

Seems like I have a common scenario, especially wanting to upgrade from oil-less...am I missing something? (like incorrect search term, missing a good site, etc?)

Thanks!

There are some options...

This is a Jenny, but for $700 I could buy a pretty nice complete compressor:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Jenny-F...H_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb975c29c&vxp=mtr

This is a cheapo version:
http://nangong.en.alibaba.com/product/608355810-0/V_2051_Base_Plate_Mounted_Air_Compressor.html

But that's about it...

I'm searching for "plate mount compressor"...might this kind of thing be called something else?

Seems like someone must be building something like this for the oil-less retrofit crowd...or do people just scrap their dead oil-less units? Hate to do that...its a sturdy american made tank with zero rust and not even any scratches.

Here's what I did:

Picked up a Speedaire 20 gallon horizontal with a bad tank for $100, cut the plate off and bolted it to my craftsman 33 gallon tank. It's actually a Champion pump, does 10cfm@120psi. And it's QUIET!

That's pretty much what I was thinking.

Hoping to find a pre-built unit I can just bolt on.

Also will need a guard...I've got a 3 and 5yo running around.

Lots of pumps and motors available...but very few that are already setup.

Most suppliers have just replacement compressors available as a stand alone

item. I have never heard the term "plate mounted" used for these item,

because they are all meant to be mounted to a base plate.

Take a look at McMaster, Northern Tool, or Grainger website and look in

the 'air compressor' or 'replacement air compressor' section, if you are

interested in a new part.

Been looking at options to build my own compressor "plate", but I'm not in the mood to order a bunch of components and bolt them up. Seems like most of the pumps on eBay are no-name, along with most of the motors...and even with that the cost will head north of $300.

Bottom line is I think I'll just buy a new compressor. I'm looking at a 26gal Quincy that should suit my needs nicely. Wondering about opinions on them...will post separately on that.

I disagree, I looked into polar air, they are assembled in the USA of foreign parts. The electric motor is made in the USA, the pump is made in china, and assembled in the USA, then the compressor itself is assembled in the USA.

I looked into this company when buying my compressor, I had to call the company directly, and talked to their customer service directly about their compressors.

Larger than what you're looking for, but the entire Quincy QR line is available in skid-mount so far as I'm aware.

My 20 gallon more then fits my needs. I chose a single stage over a 2 stage more for reliability sake than anything myself. The whole simpler is more reliable attitude.
