SnapOn Screwdriver warranty question

The second SnapOn Screwdriver from the top in this pic has a broken tip. I've never had to warranty a truck brand tool before and I'm not sure how it works. I do not have an account or anything and this tool was bought from a guy years ago who is no longer a dealer. Can I just take this to any SnapOn truck and get it warrantied, no problems? If not, what is the alternative? Thanks in advance!

Edited to add: Thought I would mention these were bought in a set of 4-- 2 slotted, and 2 Philips (the other Philips is in my truck). Will it be an issue getting one to match this set? Can't remember how old these are.

they will warranty it without issue (unless it looks abused and the dealer is a tight wad) however be aware they can and often do just replace the shank.

Sometimes the dealer wants a reciept or they won't replace the shank. All the dealer does is clamp the shank in a vice, pry off the handle with a prybar and tap the rest of the handle off with a hammer. Finally find the right length shank and pound the handle into the new shank.

Send the tools, a note, return shipping address & phone number to:

SNAP ON RPC

DOCK 8
KENOSHA

Unless things have changed recently, you'll just get a replacement in the mail.

after all is said and done he'd probably be better off throwing it in the trash and buying a new one instead of wasting his time, packaging, and paying the return postage. Besides he wants to keep the same handle (no longer made) so getting a new shank would be the way to go.

They do require receipts by mail now by the way or they just send it back to you. Perhaps not for a single screwdriver but certainly for ratchets and i'd image other items priced similarly.

They require you to call in first and they will determine if they want you to send it back. They will send a label and RMA if they deem the need to have the tool returned. Most times if you call in just one item they just send out the replacement.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yeah, I won't mind getting only the shank replaced, as I LOVE the handles on these drivers. VERY comfortable and get a lot of torque with them. I'll see if I can track down the SnapOn truck this week and see if he'll take care of me.

Just call up customer service, they will send you a shank and you can replace it yourself. Free. Honestly in your situation I dont think its worth chasing down a dealer.

I won't chase him down... He stops at my buddy's shop that is about 3min from my house. In fact, he hangs out there pretty much most of the day when he comes by....these guys are the ones that work on his truck for him. I'm down there fairly often, but have only been there once in the past couple of months due to my schedule. I'll just swing in when he shows up. I'm not in a real hurry anyway.

If you think you will get any resistance, just leave it with your buddy or another friend of yours with a good relationship with the snap on man and ask them to handle the transaction for you.
Its not like its doing anything useful in your drawer anyhow

Send an email to Snap On tools explaining what happened. Snap On will send you a new Snap On screwdriver, and you will not have to pay for shipping. Or if you locate a Snap On truck they will replace the screwdriver shaft.
