Impact sockets Sunex or Grey Pneumatic

i have gray sockets and side by side they are identical to matco and snapon but ive used sunnex sockets and they are nice but they feel kinda grainy to me like the napa impact sockets they are both good but i use the grays everyday and i can honestly say ive never seen one break before. There isnt a real good source around here for sunnex that im aware of so that may be part of it as well! i highly recommend gray

I have several sets of Sunex impact sockets and for the price they seem hard to beat. I would not hesitate to recomend them.

I have sunex, but the grey sockets are nice too. My dealer sells the grey sockets cheaper than the sunex ones.

Sunex for me!!! Daily pro use for over 3.5 years now no problems....
Grey Pneumatic for me .. warranty with them is excellent ...

im looking into buying the gray pneumatic 1/2" dr impact socket sets 1328RD and 1430MRD. anyone have these? i was wondering if the socket size was stamped on them as well as the gold numbering. thanks

i got my gray from my local tool wholesale store. they have the gold lettering and appear to also have it laser engraved mines still holding up strong

The Grey Pneumatic sockets I have only have small gold size markings, nothing is engraved into the steel. The few sunex sockets I have have small gold lettering and the size stamped into the steel. I honestly think (probably incorrectly) that Grey Pneumatic and Sunex impact sockets come from the same Taiwanese factory but, leave in different packaging. Their size offerings are pretty close and individual differences are small. Either brand will serve you well. I have seen great deals on Ebay for both brands. The cost of a replacement socket is fairly cheap so, even if you were to break one, It probably wouldn't be worth mailing in if you didn't have a local dealer.

i talked to Daveblank today and he said that he sells the GP sockets and that Matco trucks will warranty them. i can get the GP sockets from matco at my student discount price, but im not sure if i can get sunex. i really would like to have a socket that is marked twice because the gold will probably wear off eventually. i would hate to have a socket that i couldnt tell what size it was. i wonder if they would warranty that? by the way, are your GP socekts older? i wonder if the newer ones are marked twice?

My brother bought a set of the "silver eagle" Matco asian brand impact sockets; they seem to work well so far.... are they gray or sunex? Or maybe some other oem?

I would go with Grey Pneumatic. Sunex was great until they started manufacturing in China. We stopped carrying most of the Sunex line do to breakage. We have been using and selling Grey Pneumatic impact sockets for years. Grey is manufactured in Taiwan but there is not quality comparison You can find them at Quinntoolsonline.com. Genius Tools also makes a great impact socket.

Id reccomend Sunex for the money there pretty good impact sockets
I have a question if someone does not mind. I see in the metric set that it has everything from 10-22mm but then it skips to 26mm and 27mm.
So my question is does Grey sell single sockets to fill that hole? and if so where?

I know this is a very old post, but I just needed to clarify that Gray is a great canadian tool maker and they really make awesome tools (althought I did crack a 41mm socket in half torque turning a torque turn bolt 200ft/lb + half a turn fine thread on a large excavator track pad once). Grey Pnumatic is a totally different and forign cheap brand.

Actually this thread is discussing about Grey; not Gray tools. Grey is a foreign yes, but I think the better descriptor would be: economical brand; not cheap.
BTW, Gray imports a lot of their stuff from Asia, US, Europe.
