Snap-On KRSC101 vs KRSC33A Roll Carts

I am considering the purchase of either Snap-On KRSC101pcm or KRSC33pcm. I will be buying through the Snap-On student program which means both of these are half of their list price shown on the website.

I am mostly looking for input from people who own or have used one or the other or maybe even both. What are things that you like & dont like about about either box? I am leaning twords the KRSC101PCM even with the large price difference.

Depends will this future cart hold some tools on as needed per job basis or do you want somewhere to put items on top like a work bench? Those 2 carts are very different. Personally id recommend the 33 or even a 46 (the one with drawers all the way down maybe a 41) and just get a bluepoint no frills cart .

I've seen the KRSC101PCM in person. This thing is quite large and very deep for something that's suppose to be mobile. It's a nice one without a doubt. Depending on your needs and the size of your work area, it may not be something you want to move around all the time.

I would double check if the KRSC33PCM comes with the rubber bumpers or if its an option, they should really be standard on all shop carts

I should clarify my use some. Over the summers, I work in a hot rod/restoration type of shop doing lots of metal fabrication, panel replacement, door/trunk/hood/fender fitting etc. I am looking for a cart that will hold all of the tools that I use 95% of the time. What will be in the box are basic standard wrenches, ratchets, and sockets, hex keys, ball point hammers, deadblow hammers, body hammers, metal shears, multiple air tools, and lots of different vice-grip type clamps. Do you guys think I will have trouble fitting these into either one of these boxes? (12,102ci space in the KRSC101 vs. 9,591ci for KRSC33A)

I do like the idea of the stainless worktop a lot, and the larger wheels on the KRSC101. I'll be moving the roll cart around whatever car i'm working on multiple times a day going over air hoses and extension cords, concrete joints etc. The worktop seems nice when i'm switching between different body hammers, air tools, clamps, clecos on the go in a short period of time without having to keep opening/closing drawers etc. When I switch to more mechanical work one day the stainless worktop will be nice when removing dirty parts and have someplace to set them (especially heavy parts) and be able to wheel them where ever and easily wipe the top clean.

I'm considering the 46 and 40 (same but taller drawers) that jtfc mentioned. Not a fan of the sliding stainless lid on the 41 though. The KRSC10 is interesting as well although I cant seem to find what the list price would be for it anywhere?

I personally like the first one. I'm not a huge cart person. I have had a couple different carts and none really worked out for me. I have seen it in person and it is big and I liked the large work surface. For me, I'm never far from tools, I am always away from a bench, so I would just use it pile stuff on and keep rags in the drawer. It's just really spendy and that is what has kept me from buying one.

As far as I can tell, KRSC33PCM does not come with or have any sort of rubber bumpers as an option. Thanks for mentioning that though, that is something that is important in my shop. Chipping paint or (God forbid) causing a dent on a near finish car would cause me to have a very bad day .

KRSC46FPC? I appreciate the offer, but to be honest I dont think the five shallow drawers would work very well for me. I can also get the same box for a couple hundred less new, through the student program.

For all those tools I would think you need a 40 or 46. I haven't seen a 101 in person but it seems like you would have all your tools in a pile or very tightly crammed. I have a 5 drawer cart made from a company which shall remain unnamed but its all ready full and as soon as funds allow ill be getting a 40 or 46(whichever has more drawers ) or a cornwell 700. trust me dude at least get the krsc46 your going need the space.

the smaller carts you can only hold your wrenches and stockets and thats about it. you run out of room

i went through tech school as well and i thought i could get away with a kcrs46 and i barely did. i wish when i was in school i could buy the biggest box i could afford at the time. now i regret doing not buying the biggest box i could get. cause now at work i have 3 boxes krsc46 craftsman rollers still need more room

The KRSC41 holds more cu inch displacement than the KRSC46 & also has a work surface, though nowhere near as rugged a surface as the KRSC101.

I agree w/posters who say the 101 won't have enough drawer space.

At this point I have pretty much cancelled the KRSC33 out due to low space and no corner bumpers. In my mind now its between the KRSC40, KRSC41, and KRSC101. From the dimensions given, the KRSC101 is bigger than what it looks. I have a hard time feeling comfortable with the sliding work top on the KRSC41, does anybody have hands on experience with how durable and rigid the top of this box is?

I should also add that this by no means is my main box. But at work space is a premium, every single available spot has a car and we have 7 guys at least always working, sometimes up to 10 even. A couple of the guys have very large boxes and the others all have medium size boxes or large roll boxes. Since space is a premium, so is bench/worktop space. So i'm trying to have the smallest box I need within reason for what I use on a day to day basis, with a worktop being a big plus and very mobile.

Shallow? The bottom drawer is 8" deep and the rest are 4" It is new. I have never used it
I would like to get a discount like you. I get the Tech Ed through Matco but SO is a pain in the *** with their requirements.

Why not a 60 bottom with a stainless or wood top. If its not a stock option have a local shop fab up a top. It may not be a cart per se but its an option.

I have the KRSC41 and the sliding top is very strong. I have had 3 car batteries and a set front rotors off of a Chevy 1500 along with other random smaller stuff on it and it still slid fine. It is only rated at 120lbs but I have had more than that on it with no ill affects.

I will say that at first the slides on the top were "sticky". It would want to hang up on one side or the other when pushing it open. Once it broke in it has been nice and smooth ever since.

Doesnt bother me much that I cant lock up the bottom drawer, I work at a great shop and all of the guys trust each other. None of the guys with the huge boxes even lock theirs at nights/weekends. I will probably keep my clamps in that bottom drawer. Size is listed as 12,102ci including the bottom drawer. Not sure if that number includes the tray on the bottom?

I went and looked that up for prices sizes etc. About a $1000 more total for the box and then the stainless top than a KRSC101. Plus the top work area on the classic 60 is actually smaller than the KRSC101 and probably not rated for as much. Work surface on the 60 is also about 4" shorter than the KRSC101 so i'd have to be partially stooped over to use it all the time. For reference, the classic 60 has slightly more storage at 15,566ci.

Great input so far guys! Anybody have any other experience/advice to offer? I'm leaning heavily twords the KRSC101PCM. I just wish I could see one in person and gauge its size and if it will have enough storage for the things I want to keep in it.

Any more thoughts or experience guys? Great input so far. Would like to hear from anybody that has or currently owns the KRSC101. I called up local truck driver to see if he has sold one of these locally that I could take a look at in person but he has not. Next i'll be calling my industrial rep. and see if he has ever sold any and if there is a chance I could take a look at one in person.

Also in my search I came across this picture. Now I know these guys probably arent 6ft, but the KRSC101PBO in the picture is even bigger than I expected!

Not sure if you have a Rock n' Roll mobile tool truck in your region, however we have one here in the NW with the KRSC101....it's not small. If you're around 6' tall the work surface is at a perfect height, drawers are of a great height too. Also, pricing on the KRSC10 has been released to distributors, MSRP is set at $1,200.

What is that? I havent heard of that before, but sounds interesting. That works out great for me though as I am 6ft tall. KRSC10 is interesting but has about the same capacity as the KRSC33, which i'm thinking would be too small.

I can't take a pic of it next to a 7022 (cause I don't have one lol) but I can take a pic of it next to a 68"epiq or a KRSC31 cart for size comparison this evening if you like. As for size though, I remember thinking it was bigger than I expected when I rolled it off the truck. it's flippin heavy too! the only issue I have with mine is that I wish they'd have just gone with 3 locking drawers instead of having the third as an option and non locking. other than that it's a helluva cart.

I thought the 3rd drawer was kinda odd myself as well considering its not lockable or even uses slides? But I would still get the 3rd drawer anyways to put the lesser used not as valuable tools in.

I just bought a krsc101 3 days ago and like it so far. i upgraded from basic cheap matco rollcart with an added drawer and side shelf. i work at a busy goodyear shop and have found that i have more room to pile parts/tools on top of plus putting some of my go to tools to save time going back in forth to my old school kr1000 that i had added another bank to..so now i have more room for future tools instead of having to buy more room and also can cut down my production time by not going back and forth so much. more flag hours equals a happier me. i had never seen on someone traded it in that day so i bit the 1400 bullet and he threw in the locking prybar rack. very happy so far.

Great! Glad to see somebody else has one and is happy with it. I still fully intend to buy one. In January I did a one month internship on a short line railroad and worked on steam locomotives, I was dying to have the KRSC101PCM that I wanted and a lot of my tools in it to keep handy. Would have saved me a lot of time running to and from the tool board, along with the 1000lb work surface capacity would have came in real handy for moving some of the heavy parts around the shop. EVERYTHING is heavy on steam locomotives!
