I'll know the exact number by the weekend, but apparently *dozens*.

When you find out, PM me the complete details. I MAY be interested depending on the price. $100 seems a bit steep for that vice, but we'll see what you find out. Thanks!

Depending on shipping, I'm interested also.

I'm thinking a *wooden crate* with external dimensions so it fits in large flat rate box... assuming the vise will fit in pieces....don't think they will fit intact. ;)

Edit: just checked
Large FRB is 12x12x5.5 internally... making a wooden crate with 1/2in ply sides & 1/4in ply top & bottom would put that at 11x11x5 space for the vise.

Flat rate boxes from the USPS shipped inside the continental US do NOT have weight limits. If it fits, it ships. Now if the bottom of the box if falling out they might refuse it.

70 pounds domestically.

what do these vises weigh?
Certainly no more than the 60lb RockIsland I dragged home last Friday

Hence the idea of a plywood crate within the flat rate box ;)

If the flat rate idea doesn't fly, I'll go here:
http://www.boxcity.com/Scripts/products.asp

& get a cardboard box that will take the vise intact, bolted into a plywood crate.

Agreed that there is no weight limit in the US on flat rate boxes. The last time I abused that system I shipped 1000 .308 FMJ lead core bullets. I'm betting that weighed a bit more than one of those vices...

Wow, those vises look like a great deal, but not for me right now.

There actually is a weight limit. I'd guess postal employees probably don't weigh every heavy box to see if they break the 70 lb rule, or they may not even know about the rule, since it's probably rare they get one close to that heavy.

I don't know exactly the terms you are getting these on, but try to get them as cheap as possible please. (I am sure you will)

I am honestly fairly excited, because I NEED a vise.

I don't do paypal, so it will be checks & they ship when they clear.

Not sure exactly what the deal is, seems to be a "surplus to requirements" type of deal.

As soon as I find out how they can be shipped I'll let ya know :)

If the vises are Wilton 656, the current chinese made 656, according to the Grainger catalog have a shipping weight of 63.4 lbs

(On amazon, the chinese 656 only had a shipping weight of 16 oz!)

I know I'm late to the party, but can you add me to the list? I live in North Long Beach and work in Anaheim, so I could probably pick up local.

Thank you!

I've shipped a lot of vises and I seriously doubt you're gonna fit that into a large FRB.
You *might* be able to get it into 2 FRB's

I wouldn't bother with a plywood crate. Obtain some of those nice corrugated plastic signs that your local Realtors leave all over town.

Use a double thickness on the bottom and secure the vise parts to them with some heavy tie wraps.

Sounds like a plan :)

I'm also interested in one depending on shipping costs.

I don't frequent this forum often so I don't know your reputation, but can someone vouch for you? Do you have any seller feedback?

Don't take this the wrong way, it's just mailing a check to some random guy over the internet is sketchy, haha

7 years, 9,000+ posts. If there was a problem here someone would have left some negative feedback somewhere. Just cut the check, if there's one available.
