Blue point has become Snap-ons "affordable" brand. They carry the same lifetime warranty but are mostly manufactured in Taiwan, although they are still very high quality.

Yeah, it is that company's "economy" brand.
Snap-On also copies a lot of tools made by Lisle, K-D, OTC, and other specialty tool makers, and slaps their Blue-Point name on them. If you see it for sale under the Blue-Point name, chances are you can find it cheaper on amazon.com or elsewhere in its original brand.

More of a 're-badge' than copying.
I have some Blue-Point sockets, they are excellent quality, but not nearly as good as actual Snap-On (same sockets that are sold as Williams Taiwan for much cheaper).

I think part of the price difference is paying for the "on the truck" convenience. My SAE ratcheting wrenches are Williams and metric are Blue Point, and looking at them side by side, I'd bet they were made on the same assembly line with the only difference being the laser engraving. I use metric about 80% of the time so I spent the extra for the Blue Point set so I have the option of just catching up with the local truck if I break one rather than having to mail it in and wait for a week or more for warranty service.

Most of the big time manufacturers have a Flagship automotive brand, an industrial brand, and a "value brand" that enables them to sell tools to more budget minded customers. Snap-On/Williams/BluePoint, Mac/Proto/Blackhawk, Matco/Armstrong/KD/Gearwrench, and so on. The flagship brands are typically USA made while the value brands tend to be mostly import stuff. In most cases the "value" brands are still very high quality at a cheaper price.
