Will this be available online? Closest sears is an hour away. I could do an Instore pic up but I don't know if they will let someone else that's not me pick it up for me.

They go on sale at this price every few months.

They are excellent tools, a rebranded version of the Irwin set which you won't find close to this price.

They're sold by a couple companies. There are deep versions as well. When you need them, you need them, and they do work well provided the threads are totally shot otherwise they just tear up the nut.

This set doesn't go on sale but I find it more useful than the smaller low profile sets because the sockets have a little depth to them. Also be aware they make a "low profile" set that has no square drive and is meant to be used with a ratcheting wrench.

here are the deeps (snap-on re-brands the Ken-Tool versions)

I need to stop by sears this weekend anyway. I need a Hansen tray for work and a couple rebuid kits. I might pick these up. Not sure if I will ever need them but they might save my **** one day.

Thanks OP

Other people really have luck with this kit? Is there some special way of using it? I have tried it a few times several different ways with no luck.... I have considered the kit wasted money.

I have used them and they work good. Bought a set years ago when sears first introduced them. Just beat it on a rounded bolt and twist it out. If that dont work weld a nut on top.

One time that it really saved me a whole bunch of work was with an exhaust manifold downpipe connection. The nuts were well rusted and some were nearly round. I couldn't tell if they were reinstalled damaged, or if the rust had done the damage. Heating the nut until red and using these with a deep socket removed them with little drama (especially compared to the previous rounds of penetrating oil and various tools).

I own the Irwin version of this, with the expansion set. I have not had to use them yet, but they appear to be great quality. When I purchased them they were "Made in the USA with global components".

Hm... I didn't try beating it on with a hammer I don't think, I will make sure to give it a try next time and hopefully have better luck. I had tried some light tapping with a hammer and then wrenching on it, and had tried putting on an impact and pushing as hard as I could and bumping the trigger. Possibly user error...

Living in the rust belt these things are AWESOME! Don't be afraid to pound them on with a hammer, I always do. Then use a punch from the backside to pound out the nut/bolt. They **** if you do not seat them real good first.

Last I used these, I had stripped bolts on a shear plate on a cardboard bailer (the heads are recessed). Beat them on with a 3lb sledge and yanked on them with a 18" pipe wrench with a helper pipe. Luckily, they worked. I would have thought I would have broken at least one. They are a little chewed from the pipe wrench jaws but I should be able to use it at least 1 more time. Saved me a good 3 hours not having to slice up that 3" thick plate.

Just ordered mine for store pickup. Funny...I hope I never have to use them. Like djb2 said earlier these are like the fire extinguisher, hope they just sit there!

I just got the long one bc I already have the short one. THANK GOD I rarely use them :)

But I have already kit #0952166

To my dismay I found out it is missing one bolt...I asked store Associate if I can buy/order one piece and the answer was NO. B/c it is a Set.

Anyone I can call to get the one piece?

x3 for when you need them, you need them. Generally best results with a smaller impact, or large impact regulated down. Just applying continuous twisting force by hand is less likely to be successful, which is basically why impacts exist in the first place. At $8.99 per set (Craftsman Club price) I say they're worth it and then some.

the ones at my store are. I didn't buy them, are these useful? I haven't needed them yet.

Hell yes!.....but I live in the rust zone:thumbup: when you need them, you need them!

Trick to them is to beat them on first, then turn. Do not be afraid to hammer them on!

Are these still made in the USA?

Yeah, I just got both sets. Both are all stamped "USA." I was glad to pay $5.99 shipping on one set just to get it. The website claimed 12-14 days to get it at my local store for pick-up, and I flat out don't trust Sears to be able to follow thru with something in 12-14 days.
