Thanks!

While the link was loading, I was afraid I'd have to get yet another ratchet :)

Then I saw it was 36 teeth, so my wallet is safe (for now ;-)

I think the 3/8" ratchets are the only ones with 80 teeth; the 1/4, drives have 72 teeth but are new with the redesigned guts! I think I am right but if not, some one correct me!
This is what the 1/4" dual 80 ratchets say:
Description:
Based on Dual 80™ Technology these ratchets feature:
Durability: Snap-on's ultimate strength and patented sealed mechanism provides permanent lubrication while sealing out dirt, dust and other contaminants leading to a tool life.
Precision: Dual pawl, 72 tooth mechanism provides 15% less ratcheting arc to engage the next tooth allowing you to ratchet in tighter areas.
Strength: Provides up to 90 ft. lbs. Of ultimate torque to help break loose rusted and seized fasteners faster and easier.
Stop, Turn and Listen. Introducing the smoothest, strongest ratchets on the planet. You have to try them to believe them.

Or are the 1/2" drive "dual 80" ratchets not quite available or just scarce right now? Is the S80 technically a "dual 80" ratchet or just the previous or current model that hasn't been redesigned?

Ahh, the SO website seems to have issues.

The page title says "S936" but the stock number is S80. It also says "36 teeth"...

Pedro, can you clear this up?

I just ordered an fhl80. I hope it lives up to the hype. That snappy ratchet drawer is what dreams are made of.....

the web sight is behind i have the new 80 tooth 1/2 ratchets in... they feel better than the 3/8 =)

at the tool show i went to in august they hung a epiq box from it (roughly 1000lbs) the s80 has been tested to be able to withstand safely 710 ft lbs

(just tried to take a pic and failed =( )

the dead give away for the 80 teeth ratchets are no screws on the head the 2 screws on them are on the face plate

Do the 1/4" drives have 72 teeth in them, because they can't design the 80 teeth to fit in the head or did they view 80 teeth as unnecessary?

I guess the old 900 series has 36 teeth; so 72 is twice the amount of the old one, thats quite a leap in teeth!

i'm assuming that they couldn't fit them... its the same dual paw design and the teeth on the gear are super fine....

I recently bought an SHL80 and tested it against my SL936. Turns out that the SHL80 is way smoother but the SL936 appears to be heavier and stronger. Ended up selling both to my mechanic. Might go for a longer handle but haven't decided yet. Either way, going to make sure that it's a 72 tooth this time.
