It is definitely worth the money. I've been watching the price for a while and it finally dipped down again so I jumped on it. Figured I'd at least get them while they were still USA made. Only Craftsman socket I've broken in the 11 years I had my old set was a chrome 19mm attached to the end of my MG725

was the $239 deal for the 299pc cman socket set available again recently? ... i've been watching it for a friend who wants to get it but haven't noticed it get that low again....

I wish! I noticed a bit after christmas it was $349, but I couldn't swing it then. Finally got the change for it and it was $499, no discount. So I waited some more. Last weekend it went back down to $384. I know its not as low as it could be, but I was tired of waiting. Knowing my luck, it will be down to $300 by next week :lol_hitti

Still a hell of a deal when you think about it. I fully plan on getting 20 years of abuse out of these. I had heard of some quality problems with some of the newer sockets, but I've got to say, every socket I got is perfect. The only thing "wrong" with them was small marks from them rattling around inside the bags. Doesn't bother me at all though.

keep your receipt. did you use the $35 off $300 visa deal? when you get a better deal, buy it again and return the new set with the old receipt.

I tried pulling the trigger on a set yesterday and the sears website said that there are none available. I even tried looking at a few other sets that had the 299 sockets and some extensions and what have you, but to no avail.

My new Williams B-52EHA, M-52EHA, and S-52EHA arrived last night. All for $84 shipped from toolsdelivered. Really liking the finish and action of each of them, looking forward to giving them a workout! Considering getting the long or flex versions, especially with these reasonable prices.

Hey Skin, who made the oil filter wrench kit in the black box?

I'm not skin, but I believe that is made by AST and the wrenchs fit Euro cars, mostly Volkswagen. Its this one here if I remember correctly

Those cups are wicked handy though, I use the 640 about 100 times a week. Be careful actually using the square drive on the bigger ones though, if you get a filter housing that has been over tightened it WILL snap the cup in half using that square drive hole. Been there done that :lol_hitti

it is the AST kit, Euro + others and then the Toyota kit is the blue box. Wanted some decent wrench sockets better than those crummy stamped Chinese things. Some of the AST sockets are actually US made which is kind of nice. Thanks for the warning on the square drive, i'll avoid it.

All excited at long last I manned up and got a MIG :)

 You'll like that for general automotive stuff. I have an older model I picked up 10 years ago. I use mine with flux core wire and can take it anywhere for a few little light welds here and there. It has paid for itself many times over -- I have put a few radiator core supports on with it thanks to Bambi :lol_hitti

What do you think of the Milwaukee Fuel Series? Im thinking about getting the 3/8 version when its released.

They are heavy, but its feels like quality. They replaced a Makita LXT218 brushed kit, and in my opinion are much nicer. The 1600in-lbs is hard to beat on the hex impactor. I also appreciate the 5 year tool, 3 year battery warranty.

I plan to buy the same set very soon. It will replace my 18V NiCad DeWalt set. I have been a faithful DeWalt user for years, but the deal on the Milwaukee is too good to pass up with that warranty.
