Powder actuated nails, C/C

I am retrofitting a bare bones 1988 Metco metal barn with R panels for siding on red steel. 1200 S.F. or 30 X 40 on a 6" concrete slab. Will become a woodworking shop and some storage for household stuff.

I plan 2X4 studs and dry wall for the interior. Also plan to use a .22 nail driver if the concrete isn't too old and hard, to attach the base plates.

Riddle me this, 2-1/2" nails at what center distance in the base plate?

I do not know the code requirements on these...

However, we use 3" pins and put them every 3 ft or so... All you are doing is locating the wall laterally.

I have been shooting lots of nails this way and using 2.5" long nails with the washer. They sell 3" nails for the same purpose but with the max power powder charges I could not get full embedment. I shoot every 2 feet. The nails are cheap.

If your wood is somewhat stright grained, stagger the nalis a little so you do not split the plate down a grain line.

they are $20 at lowes for the hammer actuated one. no biggie. nails are $5/25 and powder is $6/100 shots
