Racedeck Installation in or near LA?

Hi All:

After quite a bit of reading and research, I had been leaning towards Racedeck for the floor of the garage in our new house (moving to Oregon in July). However I had never seen an actual installation – until last month.

On a visit to Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, I stopped by the Racedeck booth, and, to be honest, I was a little disappointed in the small installation they had. It just didn’t look, feel or sound as good as I had hoped.

The folks there told me it was because of the surface it had been placed on. Their booth was in a large tent, so I don’t know if it was asphalt, dirt, or, because it is usually an equestrian center, something else.

The Free Flow tiles looked a lot better, but I'm not sure that type of tile would work well up there.

Anyhow, I’m trying to find someone locally that has a “real” installation for evaluation before I pull the trigger. Any other suggestions are welcome.

I'm a bit surprised by the minimal response. I'm guessing some combination of:

Few guys in LA frequent this site.
Few guys in LA have a Racedeck floor in their garage.
No one in LA wants me to visit them.
People are not proud of their Racedeck flooring.

No, my feelings aren't hurt. I'm just surprised.


So does anyone have a polished concrete floor they're willing to show me?

It was also only a few days between your posts.

There are a ton of Youtube videos that will give you a great feel of what its like. On top of that contact Race Deck they will send you some samples, if you didn't do that when you spoke with them directly.

Definitely get the samples... Racedeck is great. Its far superior to the Craftsman tiles I have now. Its well worth the investment plus if/when you move you can take it apart and take it with you... Unlike epoxy or polishing.

Portability is not a factor. I am moving into my retirement house. (My next move after this one will probably be to a nursing home. )

I have indeed held/touched/stood on sample tiles. And as I said, I saw the installation at B-J. I have also seen several YouTube videos as well as Racedeck's installation video.


Keep in mind, the reason for this thread is because the installation at B-J did not look or feel very good to me. If it was indeed the quality of a typical garage installation, it is not what I'm after. I had just hoped to see (and feel) a "real" installation in person so I could judge objectively. I didn't think that was an unreasonable goal.
