If I may rephrase, the product may still be very good, but not $400 good.
People are willing to spend the money when they know they are made in the USA, by Americans (in theory), who have families, and are proud of what they do.

When the scope is put on China, or Taiwan, and these workers make $2/week, and don't care about the product being manufactured, why still, are the wrenches the same high price?

It's a question of morals, pride, and to quote Billy Madison, "Business Ethics"

I think you should do some more research. Hourly rates and pay scales as well as working conditions in Taiwan are far far above that of China. They manufacture some of the best products out of Asia. Not saying that a $400 double box wrench set from Taiwan is a good thing, but they're far from Chinese level working conditions.

I also wouldn't say just because someone is Chinese or Taiwanese they don't bring a sense of pride with them to work. That's just as false as saying all Americans have pride and produce high quality goods. We can certainly produce some seriously low quality products here.

Well...I was going to show off my new arrivals like this, thinking I was very clever:

But clearly that's too clever by half, so instead....

If those are "decent" what do you call good?

Haha well I guess I should've said I finally got some good quality torque wrenches! I'm pretty pumped to use them.

I have that SHL80A as well, its the smooothest ratchet I own. Very nice

Thanks! I think it'll be a good all around ratchet, I just couldn't see myself needing the flex head model in a 1/2" drive so I just went for the fixed head.

Haven't received them yet but got the receipt and waiting on them to ship to me. I had a 1984 Callaway turbo vw rabbit gti and got offered $1,200 worth of snap on tools and $5,000 cash. The guy is using the new tools as his down payment. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362074027.522303.jpg

Got a shipment from VIM tools:
P10407931024x768_zps97f2aef8.jpg

Both sets of nut drivers, hand driver extensions, a few screwdrivers that were on closeout, Blue Point air tool rack, and Matco shears. Also includes the metric GearWrench flex sockets from Advance. I love how the nut driver sets are setup. The 2 position screwdriver type handle works great, and then there is a ratcheting t-handle as well as 1/4" and 3/8" drive adapters. Waiting for UPS to show up with my Wilde Wednesday order that shows out for delivery today

Yup. Total ********. Was a letdown this morning when I dug the package out of the trash.... Pay USA prices for Taiwan ****...

.............

And it looks like it was a humid day in the chrome department. Same as 2 sets of Matco half moons I sent back. Rust is popping through the chrome.

..........

That ***** about the chrome. I bought my set used off of ebay for less 25% of the truck price and for that, I am happy with them. Chrome on mine is fine.

Where'd you get the OTC puller? All I come up with mainly for that part number is the Stinger one. Or does it say stinger underneath the OTC? All the labels look different online

I got it off of a tool truck that comes by my work. it's the stinger series and yes it says it under OTC. I think OTC's website has it on it to look at, Its the 9 way slide hammer.

^Yes, spring assisted. I love the one I have...after I took off that "speed-safe" lock deal. It kept loosening and getting in the way.
