First off, let me introduce myself. I have been lurking for awhile and thought I'd share our garages.

I am 23 years old and have been working / tinkering in the garage since I was old enough to walk. I am a machinist by trade, but will be graduating with an Engineering degree from Purdue in May. I have been racing motocross for fifteen years now all though it has slowed down a bit with college. I currently live with my parents and am looking forward to moving out within the next year or so.

The house has two garages, a 24' x 24' detached as well as a 24' x 20' attached. We moved into the house in 01 and remolded the entire house. The following three years we spent rehabbing the garages!

The first garage is the detached "shop". Things are a little messy now, can't wait for spring clean up!

Here are a few pics of the inside! Still a little messy as its winter time and I am at work or school constantly! Same with the floor, kind of dirty from parking my dad's car in there and having the nasty snow melt off of it.

Now onto the Illinois - Ohio Garage. This is the attached garage and my dad's play land if you will... After he started this project, my mom started reffering to the detached shop as mine and the attached garage my dads haha.

Welcome aboard! :hellobye:

Very nice shops....and a model railroad! I hope to find time/space to integrate at least some of my old layout from when I was a kid, into my new garage. I was up until 2am watching a model railroad show on RFDTV the other night!

Thanks Dave, if you can believe it this whole train set evolved from a "free" box of old Lionel trains he got from a friend... Might now be an obsession!

Your machinist background will make you a better engineer. What discipline are you majoring in?

I am majoring in mechanical engineering. I have been in manufacturing since I was 16. Actually the only job I've really ever had. Been here 7 years. I figured if I design it I mine as well make the parts too!!

So do you have to get up on a ladder to enjoy the train set up ?
He actually built a staircase with a platform to stand on behind the work bench and computer. I'll snap a picture of it tomorrow.
