As a matter of fact, often, these auctions end up with NO bidders because they miss the regular search engine. If one of you guys don't do ebay but can use it, I'll watch it and buy it...you pick it up....I'm sure we can work it out. I'm kind of a bit of a distance away or I would be on it.

It's an old bottom box from the combo that used to sell for $77, sometimes less. It was probably about $30 when purchased.

It's certainly not worth shipping. Although, given the area, it might sell for over retail.

(Check craigslist for the San Francisco area. It's filled with over-retail pricing for heavily used tools.)

And the closer you get to SF, the worse it is. Amazing what some hipsters think their Husky or Kobalt sets and boxes are worth.

I'm in! I live really close. I really don't need it but could use it if it were cheap. What a good max bid for that?

What program?

No...No...No! Don't give anyone your program! I feed on finding typo's on ebay!

Just kidding, go ahead if you want. I have gotten some really fantastic deals on ebay because the sellers don't know how to spell and no one sees their listing but me! :bounce:

That was probably a school shop project, called "antique" because it's made of wood.

A few items down someone is selling two beat up cheap jacks for $50 each, both missing their cover plates. You could get the same quality, new, for $20 on sale.

I've been looking for an air compressor, and almost all are listed at higher than their typical sale price.

Hey PumpMan -

Mind sharing what program you are using to search Ebay.

Ebay - back in 2000....was fairly accurate.

I hardly every search like a HAWK but I have for the last 5 days on the keyword *metric snapon flare set*.
I'm not new on Ebay...been using it since '98.
It's interesting because I've noticed that the search sometimes will bring a item up, sometimes not, and sometimes it will show up under a keyword of metric flare wrench even though the item title has the keywords of snapon metric flare nut (in essence, it should have pulled up under my original keyword search)

Anyone know if that particular box is any good or not? Of course I'm not comparing it to Snapon, but is the metal thickness comparable to today's ballbearing slide/griplatch boxes or is it closer to the ultra low end homeowner stuff that most here wouldn't touch? The badges make it look a little older so I'm hope that although it's got friction slides, it might actually be pretty sturdy.
Thanks

I have a newer and older style but not this old. they are built about the same thickness as the midgrade craftsman(not the cheapie ones), but the older one definately has nicer fit and better manufactured. Judging by the pics, it looks to have friction slides. IMO I think people prefer bottoms with all drawers, that bottom shelf space/door is annoying and difficult to organize.
I probably wouldnt pay more than 50 dollars for this one in so. cal, but I would pass evertyime because of the bottom drawer.

Also, I dont wanto stir up a whole other discussion; I sell odds and ends on Ebay regularly, and know better than to make a vague listing description.. but...
It kinda ***** that you are all trying to screw a guy over with his honest spelling mistake. I am cool with getting a good deal, but it ***** for the seller because if it had sold really cheap, he would still have to pay a listing fee, final sale price fee, and paypal fee , He would pretty much be giving it away. And if he didn't he'd e forever screwed over with the buyer leaving negative feedback or something.(kinda like that fellow who listed SO ratchets and everyone bought em out in a few hours. maybe he had a medical emergency, listed it wrong or something, then everyone pulled out their pitchforks and left negative feedback saying he was a scammer after getting their refund. Its just a dude trying to make a few bucks not some crazy corportate asshats . I guess Im too sincere sometimes
And besides, if someone wanted to get a good deal on an ebay item, posting it here almost guarantees there will be a bidding war between cheap GJ members driving the price up! lol

You do realize that he self corrected his ad quite early? I actually bid on it a couple days ago (after the correction), but like you, I'm not keen on those types of drawers. I hoped to get it cheap because it's a local pickup and because it's not exactly a desirable item, but It's already more than I'm willing to pay for it.
