I have an old hard handle SO ratchet that keeps breaking. Just had a kit put in on Friday and it broke again this morning. Anybody else had this problem?

Cant remember the part number right now. But it is an older coarse tooth model. It usually breaks a tooth or 2 off the selector paw, but this time it broke a couple teeth off the main gear. It has been repaired 3 times in the past 4 weeks and now its broke again.

I would request a full replacement from your dealer; if you no luck, then call snapon. Good luck and let us know how things work out; the body of the ratchet being worn to the point, where it stresses, breaks the internals... sounds like a good possibility. Keep us informed as things progress...

Case is worn,I agree on.Had a 1/4 ratchet this way a few years ago.Dealer put in a kit and it broke again.Dealer tried to put in a repair kit in it,handed a new ratchet to me.Said the case was worn out.It was an older ratchet by the way too.

I would have your SO guy replace it. Make sure to have him swap the old handle over to the new one.

Swapped it out for a new ratchet today. He didnt even take it apart this time. He said he has more time in putting kits in it than a new ratchet costs him.lol
