Years ago I bought this air Ratchet. At the time the Guy on the truck told me that it was Reactionless and would not smash fingers.

I really liked it and I used it for about 20 years until it broke. I've been looking for another one but I have not seen one. Maybe Reactionless is the wrong term?
Anybody know what I'm looking for?

It was probably an IR 111 which has been discontinued.

I know exactly which air ratchet your talking about. Great air ratchet sad they stopped making it. That was around the same time they had the flat titanium air ratchet. Both were top notch now the new one is all plastic and the super duty is to bulky. Sad unfortunately the current 3/8 ratchet line up from IR is lacking in my opinion. I have an old Mac (CP Rebrand) and a titanium flathead that still kicks (A little low on torque)

IR used to make an air ratchet w/'Reactionless' in its name back in the 90s(?).
I liked it.
Mine 'disappeared' - don't ask.
I tried to replace it and guess what?
IR stopped making it.
Anyone know the story?

Yes it was the IR111, it was probably discontinued 6 or 7 years ago.

IR makes a right angle impact that's what you want...

And yes that way when the bolt starts to get right your hand don't slam into the damned fender

Does anybody else offer a similar air ratchet?

Plenty do, MAC, AirCat, K&E, Sunex, Astro Pneumatic etc... they all sell them. Look for impacting air ratchets as that's what they're marketed under. Even the HF Pro 3/8 and 1/2" are this type now.

The Hammerhead is in a different league, a bit larger, but is a true impact wrench style air ratchet. The other impacting air ratchets are a simple clutch mechanism and are far weaker in power.

I seem to remember the 111 didn't twist/jerk around in one's hand nearly as much as the other ratchets in its day.... hence the name reactionless.

I don't remember the 111 as having an 'impact' component.

Has anyone here had run time on both the 111 and the modern day replacements/substitutes folks have been suggesting?

The 111 had a ratchet head but had an impact mechanism that drove it. This is a link to the parts list, items 23-28 are the impact mechanism.

I have an IR air ratchet, and when it starts to get tight, I think it kinda cuts off? Is that the same thing?

. When it broke the tool guy said it was not worth fixing so I tossed it and bought a new one that *****. Now I'm wanting anorher reactionless one.

Dont always believe what the toolman says without checking on it yourself. He is in the business of selling tools.

Its nothing special in how loud, makes noise like a typical small impact, but nothing like a big one.

The Home Depot Husky reactionless, the Sunex reactionless, and the Harbor Freight Earthquake impact ratchet are all the same and made by a Taiwanese air tool maker.
Astro Pneumatic's is made by Gison of Taiwan I believe.
Northern Tools (Hydraulics) has a reactionless in their house brand Klutch.
Autozone has a reactionless in a brand called OEM.

All of these models use twin pin hammer impact mechanisms, so technically, they are all impact tools.

The Husky comes with a two year warranty. The Earthquake has a 2 year warranty available for just over 10 bucks.

HF's impacting air ratchet is the nuts. The exact same model was marketed by Husky at the Home Depot for awhile but I think they are gone now. Go to HF use a 20% coupon and you'll have a great tool that doesn't crush your fingers.
