I bought a couple squirrel cage blowers at a swap meet this weekend. I need to know what wires go to what. It has a red, white, blue and black. Can I just use the white(neutral) and black(line)? If thats correct...what are the other two(red & blue) wires for?

If you plan on using them to move air with no ductwork you will need to block off part of the intake side or outlet, if you don't they will try to move too much air and it will overload the motor. Using a meter with an amp clamp is the easiest way, just keep blocking it off until the amps on the meter are within the limits shown on the motor label.

Good idea....I have another one that has that problem that I never got around to fixing. It will run for about 45 minutes when you first turn it on then the thermal protection kicks it off for a few seconds. Motor gets pretty hot. I need to fix that one. This new one ran for an hour on high speed and never cut out....but we will see how it does when it gets hotter out.
