I just got in my PWCS7CF's. I was super excited to get them. Once I stripped a 14 AWG wire, I was sadly disappointed. It seems like the stripping hole is jus slightly too big and it will cut on one side and kinda bite on the other. when I pull insulation off it seems to like stretch the insulation and pull it off leaving a jagged insulation. I was super dissapointed when my cheapy, crimper/stripper all in one tool that comes with connecter packs; stripped cleaner and left a cleaner cut on the insulation

These seem like the best or most popular stripper/crimper. as some one reffered to it as something like "st pliers the stripper and crimper" lol.

Anyone experience this? Im thinking maybe sell them on ebay and get another pair, in hopes that its just a slight defect on these?

Sounds like to me your are using the wrong size and the cheapies are off. Did you try using a smaller size? And did it nick the wire when you used the smaller size?

Oh and just so you guys know, I guess there's 2 models now? PWCS7CF like I just got (12-20) and PWCSS7CF (14-24). I wonder if they both have 5 holes like the ones I cs7's. Also says cs7s are cast, css7's are forged

Yup, thats exactly what happened. took 2 or 3 wires off on the next size smallest. Not to mention the wire felt best in the 14 slot, even spite the crude stripping, it had "14 AWG" printed in insulation. Maybe I should try a different size wire. but why doesnt 14 want to work?

I would love for my cheapies to be the ones off lol

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I would be very sad. I don't like the sounds of things. I've made 2 orders this month now as a student, first snap on purchases. I must say as much as I do love, and want to love Snap On even more, I haven't been very impressed with what I've got. Someone mentioned the scraper shafts having a rough finish, another member said something about it might be the "new snap on" or something lol. The ones I got in my last order had rough finished shanks so they might be right. Even packaging was pretty lousy, in my last order with the scrapers I got an F80 and FX80 as well. They came just loose in a open bag. They had nicks and scratches. Snap ons reply was that "they are made to be used" and used the analogy of the getting the first scratch on your new shoes haha. They are made to be used but they shouldn't come scratched and nicked.

Id really like to figure out about my strippers though. I wonder if anyone else at all, has had this problem. Maybe they're not meant to cut all the way so it doesn't nick the wire? I don't know, I'm gonna compare them to a guy's at school tomorrow. I think they're the older ones with 6 holes too

there is something wrong with them; just call snap on to warranty them or use the truck
they are known for not crimping insulated terminals very firmly, but they do strip well

I have bought plenty of items recently and they have all looked good. Try a different set of the pliers on the truck and see if they are the same.

Tools are designed to be used. Who cares if they have a few nicks. Almost everything on the truck besides in package sets, has some small shelf wear. If you think your tools are going to stay spotless your not using them right. I have had a lot of tools shipped and I have never understood why ppl over package them so bad. It's a wrench or socket. Inside a box getting thrown around isn't half as harsh of conditions as a working environment.

Of course it will get scratched and dinged up from use but when I buy something brand new, especially at truck brand prices, I expect it to be in excellent condition. If I wanted scratched and dented tools, I would buy second hand.
