I just ordered Snap-On set LP404: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...group_ID=20219&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

I bought them with the understanding that they were made by Grip-On. Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Yes, they are made by Gip on I have many of them. Awesome locking pliers, I prefer them over vice grip.

Worked out to $54.40cdn for the set. Now I just have to see which colour they come in. Those who have them, are they light grey or black/charcoal?

This is the set I want to buy off the truck tomorrow or next Fri. Let me know your impressions of it once you use it. I had also considered the Blue Point, but figured if I'm going to spend money with S/O, I might as well get the USA stuff.

It should be the grey color. If you back to the link that you posted and look at the part of the page that shows them individually and click on those you will see that they come up in the light grey color. Hopefully this little disclaimer doesn’t apply!!!:bounce:

I've been meaning to try the Grip Ons... I'd like to find the set under the Channellock brand, but might have to settle for Snap On

I saw these and they're made in Spain. I saw them in light grey. Didn't see the set, so don't know if it's in a darker grey.

I like the orange best too but I couldn't find a Canadian distributor and I get Snap-On for 35-40% off. Kind of made the decision for me.

Gray tools sells grip-on locking pliers, i have a couple pairs. They are awesome and the price isn't to bad.

Nope, I'm still stickin with Vice Grips, I think I can still find a few new OEM USA mades around here, plus good used are plentifull and not too bad on cost.

Besides bending over and greasing for the trucks where would a guy get Grip On's even if he wanted them? I have never seen a set, and don't see them worth all that greasing and bending when I can still find decent VG fairly cheap.

Hey all

Finally got my Snap-On LP404 set today. As you can see, they came in the grey colour, which I much prefer over the darker ones.

The jaw are aligned well, the coating is perfect and the release mechanism works great.

Also, they are stamped "Made in Spain" so they're definately made by Grip-On.

Hopefully this clears up some confusion.
