Any ideas for a good quality funnel set?

I've got a hodgepodge of old funnels. Different sized openings, colors, metal, plastic, etc. The most annoying part is when adding oil through a valve cover, the long skinny part of the funnel bottoms on the rockers and the funnel falls over spilling oil all over everything! It's time to upgrade! What's the best funnel set out there? What's the best material? I've seen some cooking funnels that are kinda rounded with a somewhat flat bottom. Any ideas?

My wife likes to cut the end off a water bottle when she needs a funnel, then just toss it in the trash.

Basic funnel set to have;

cheap stacking set in three or four sizes.
Offset funnel with the hole at one side.
Long nose offset funnel.

I like having an oil drain pan full of cheap funnels in various sizes and shapes. Toss them in to drain, and a cheap funnel you don't mind cutting to fit any special use.

I've also been looking at the nozzle adapter things that go on plastic bottles of oil etc.

Never pour anything into the engine without a rag in the other hand to wipe up spills. Wiping up spilled oil a "minute" later means you miss half of it.

For motor oil........just cut the bottom off an empty oil bottel, use it as a funnel.
Maybe I'm a goofy old ******* but it works fer me...

A brand I like is called Blitz, they are sold at most auto parts stores and even walmart. The plastic funnels are a great value and come in assorted sizes, the plastic seems to be a better quality than others. They also make nice gas cans.

The bottle from Techron gas treatment with the end cut off makes a great funnel for adding gas to your car from a gas can. It jams right in and holds the little flap open.

I have no issue with Blitz's funnels, but their 6-quart drain pan ( http://www.blitzusa.com/products/oil/Oil Drains and Pans/podp6od.htm )leaks horribly at the output cap on the side. Of course, the only way to find out it leaks is to fill it with oil and leak it on the floor.....

For refueling small engines, get one with a fine mesh screen inside. Have yet to find one on display at any parts/hardware stores. Had a TrueValue store order me some a few years ago. I guess the additional 10cents in price discourages their sale if they have them on the shelves.

Mobil 1 bottles used this way thread into many valve cover oil cap threads, "look ma no hands". The offset of the openinig also helps in some cases.

Don't forget a couple Buchner funnels.

blitz use to make drain pan that open cap is facing up. so, less chance of spill when opening the drain cap.

if you own toyota, you can screw toyota brand oil bottle into engine oil cap thread, or buy snap-on toyota funnel.lol

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that Blitz's drain pans are garbage. I have another model of drain pan, and it has leaked horribly since day 1.

My favorite funnel is the 'Spill-Free' style for coolant. No more antifreeze on the exhaust manifolds (or anywhere else for that matter). See here at Amazon.

The shop I used to work at had a couple of those Lisle funnels. I canvassed Ann Arbor searching for one in the last two days. No luck!

Now I'm thinking of getting one online, but I would really prefer the ol' cash-and-carry. I'm impatient like that.

I'd really like to get a flush-and-fill out of the way before the weather turns for good, and this funnel makes it way easier. It'll basically bleed the system for you too---just wait til it stops bubbling up, let it cycle....it's a beautiful thing. Everyone should have one.

Am i the only one that hates funnels? They make a MESS trying to clean them all the time...

I have since changed to paper funnels for oil changes and such. I still have a couple of large, long neck funnels for certain rigs, but I mainly use the paper funnels.

I have an oil pan that everything gooey goes into and I let the funnels drain until I need them or the pan. Thanks to HF and even better the swap meet, I have more than 150 shop towels. I use the cleanest part of the dirtiest shop towel handy and wipe the funnels, then put the towel in a bucket of Simple Green I let them soak in before washing, and the funnel is ready for use or storage without any drips.

That Lisle funnel set looks cool...

This should be a staple in every shop. Allows you to fill up the funnel and let the cooling system bleed itself out. Works very well for the majority of cars.

As far as Funnels, Pepboys (believe it or not) has a big bin of USA made funnels for fairly cheap. Assorted sizes and colors, and I haven't really had a problem. I mean seriously.... Its a funnel.
